Shin Megami Tensei: Power Bestowal

Demons in SMT should have Power Bestowal in their Physiology page. Mastema transformed Zelenin into an Angel with his power. Another example would be also Gozu-Tennoh giving his spirit to Chiaki to turn her into a Fiend or even Dagda giving Nanashi his power to summon demons at the start of Apocalypse.

What do you guys think? These are mostly for Tier 2 demons and above since they're the only ones I've found capable of doing this. Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

The first two examples aren't Power Bestowal, they're directly changing the species of the person into that of another race, which is a completely different thing.

Power Bestowal is granting new powers, yes. Changing their species to a different one, which is the case in the OP, is far closer to Transmuation.

By that logic, everyone with Transmuation has Power Bestowal because changing their form gives them stuff they didn't have before.

That's more what happened to Isamu. Chiaki agreed to take the power due to her and Gozu-Tennoh having similar mindsets.

Mastema’s power bestowal was explained as being something he could do because he leads Heaven’s armies, which indicates that this sort of power bestowal (turning humans into angels or demons with some of the bestower’s powers) isn’t really a universal thing
However, shouldn’t all demons have some level of bestowal for whispers in SMT IV and IVA?

Yes, agreed. Dagda's example is Power Bestowal, so both abilities can be added.

Okay so to summarize it will be like this:

Power Bestowal: Demons can teach others various spells and attacks simply by whispering the words to them. They can also give them the ability to summon other demons as well.

Transmutation: Demons are able to transform others into demons by giving them their power.

Yeah, that would fit. I think Baal can also turn people into flies.

The fly transformation is demonstrated well in the devil survivor Beelzebub fight. Check 4:20
This is something that’s very specific to Beelzebub as the Lord of the Flies, so I don’t think it should be mentioned on the general demon physiology page.
I think Black Maria also demonstrates the transmutation/improved power bestowal on Nozomi in SMT IV.

That's cool. Demons would still have those powers (Transmutation), just not use it in the way Beelzebub does. Good to know, we can add it to his profile whenever we revise SMT.
