It's literally not what he does. He makes a bodypart that executes it disappear. It's power null the same way me cutting off your arms is nullifying your ability to use a sword.

He can also just null abilities that are used against him, like he did with Starlight's Telekinesis when she tried to stop him from snapping his fingers.

There was visible magical energy around his hand. Saying that being able to disperse magical energy is equivalent to nulling, in this case, passive damage reflection, doesn't work at all.

Would that help at all tough? If he detected how much magic Sans has he would laugh his ass off at an enemy billions of times weaker than he is.

Probably? He nulled Twilights magic even though he magic would due nothing to him. He is smart and has faced a situation before that would teach him not to underestimate.

I don't think he has faced situations like Sans, and most beings have some magic in them in MLP. I don't think him being able to feel it would change much.
