Sailor Moon: General Discussion

It’s cool that you worked on the blog but the blog is still inaccurate and presents demonstrably false narratives about Sailor Moon. The supporters here all posted information and scans to prove their point, so we are not being unreasonable.
That's an excuse for the rude comments??? I didn't say anything about y'all arguments either in of themselves just the attitude, but if you think that's justified then frankly I don't have anything to say to you on the matter if that's your viewpoint on convos nor do I have any interest in engaging with supporters who act all high and mighty

Well, if the translation of the Eternal Edition seems to you to be fan-made (even if you don't give any proof of it), what translation do you use? Because the Eternal Edition is an official translation licensed by Kodansha.
I mean...we didn't say that? That was said about the Miss Dream translation from eons ago. Idk if you're just angry about certain conclusions that were drawn or whatever but seriously recheck that part

Anyways, I'm out, so peace

That question was for Vodka, not for you. I'm sorry if I offended you, if that seemed to be the case.

The tag took me to the comment you made towards Vod for some reason. Odd. I apologize on that front

(Anyways yeah seriously I'm out though cause I have zero plans or anything in sticking around and it was originally supposed to be one comment anyways...so yeah unfollowing)

Okay?

You are acting as though we went to the blog and left disparaging comments or contacted the blogger directly and said cruel things. We didn’t even post it here or bring it up. Another user brought it up and asked for our opinion and we gave it to them and then moved on.

It’s not rude to say that a blog that has untrue information is inaccurate, dishonest. Maybe saying the blog is lying is harsh, but I honestly don’t care.

You are here calling us rude, and saying we act high and mighty, and we are unreasonable, and “acting like our puppy got killed”, when all we did was state our opinion on a blog and post scans and information backing up our opinion.

Save us from the moral outrage.

welcome to the internet. have a look around.

You basically used another publicly available platform to vent. It's okay to disagree but it's another thing to pretend you're some sort of authority on Sailor Moon. I'm sure that by digging up some old arguments I'll bring you back to 2009 because your argumentation is moviecodec level in my opinion.

Well here's the thing with the eternal edition translation: it does not add much information we do not already know. The Japanese version of the manga was always around, too. therefore I use both miss dream and the eternal edition.

This whole one true translation thing reminds me of king james bible purists.

So, do you use manga in Japanese or something like that? Why say it doesn't add anything. It seems incongruous to me, it's the material from which we get everything used for the verse. Does it have to have new material or something like that to work for you?

Not necessarily, manga in Japanese is okay as a P.S. or a tertiary argument. But we are arguing on North American and European terms here mostly, which means we start with the translated manga and only then use the original to support our point. In Japan meanwhile you don't have to do this.

This is a culture thing. Take any manga character at random and you will mostly see scans in English with some Japanese scans added if necessary.

As for Sailor Moon, iirc the eternal version came out in 2018 or so, but people were making arguments on her using the Miss Dream translation for years. If the two versions are relatively similar I don't see why it's wrong to use one or the other.

A staff member (I think) asked not to use the Missdream version because he considered it inaccurate. I don't remember the exact reason. So we opted to use the Eternal Edition.

Miss Dream doesn't go through an actual editorial process afaik but obviously the Eternal Edition did. So yeah, I would definitely use that over Miss Dream.

Anyways Sailor Mercury Playlist

hmm both versions seem to agree with each other that Queen Serenity is dead though
Yes, it is true. Except that the bottom right MissDream dialog does not exist in the official versions. As far as I remember, in none of the manga editions. Guardian Cosmos says: "And she decided to stay where I was, and her life was lost in the oceans of the Cauldron."

The dialogue in the official versions where MissDream places hers, has nothing to do with Queen Serenity. It's about Guardian Cosmos asking Usagi if she came to throw her life into the Cauldron to create a new story.

Both Versions also literally show Queen Serenity in the cauldron.
Uhhh no they don't lol

Anyway, the point is that using a different translation does not automatically invalidate it as explained above. The eternal edition doesn't add much information that wasn't already known. It's another matter of the spirit of the law.

We see an image of Queen Serenity embracing Baby Princess Serenity to the left.

The Eternal Edition doesn't add much but it's a cleaner and more formal translation than older editions and fan-made ones. Not sure why you want to cling onto older translation so badly. Like unless there's a good reason to check with the original text (like I did) to contextualize some things further, it's better to stay up to date.

no I'm just saying that the existence of newer versions do not necessarily invalidate the older ones, especially when the japanese version was always there.

That Queen Serenity pic doesn't necessarily prove she was always there, kinda looks like a flashback, a frame if you will (because otherwise you imagine she'd interact with usagi). It's not drawn to resemble a focal point in said scan.

How far are we with the revision folks? Because I really want to reopen one of my versus threads!

We already restored the removed hax from the verse. But the profiles in question need fixing and we are focusing on them one by one. Also we have to update the tier of each character (since a new cosmology blog is now accepted) because they are also outdated.

A tier upgrade? Interesting, what tier?

Interesting since I was actually planning to make a downgrade revision thread, but this would require changing this website's philosophy in general and maybe the concept of powerscaling even.

I personally scale Sailor Moon very low, but then so is the case with most verses. I miss the times of OBD when I see how everyone can blow up the universe now

Hello, my first post on Vs Wiki and I just wanted to test it by replying here. I'm a big fan of Sailor Moon and have been helping with the people here with researching and fixing the verse in general. I probably won't be here too much for other than this and maybe Death Battle threads. Also I hope it's okay to shamelessly plug my pitch matchup with Ben and Chad here.

Sailor Moon loses to Goku.

She's good against DC and Marvel superheroes, many other magical girl series and I'd wager she would beat Pegasus Seiya 1v1.

But Sailor Moon characters wouldn't do great against many shonen series because of their atrocious reaction speed, especially when their opponent verses also feature cosmic grade destruction, like Dragon Ball. Unless you use platonic Sailor Moon and aristotelian Dragon Ball, which is imo fundamentally wrong but seems to be what causes this whole debate in the first place.

I could see her make it past the Buu Saga and GT but it's honestly a toss up and she surefire doesn't have what it takes to hang with current DBS. Even Sailor Cosmos, who fought for 1000 years with Chaos kinda like Future Trunks did, can lose against Kid Buu. It's reasonable to believe he will stall her for a very long time and turn her into candy. Or he could play dirty and resort to low blows or knocking off her star seed.

uh you mean DBH Goku right
coz DBS goku scales to only 6 universes...

seiya stomps both
doesn't eos sailor moon scale to like hundreds of universes
no, she doesn't (imo)

she is uni/low multi, galaxy level if you want to be more strict, at least that's how I see things. Hundreds of universes isn't a thing in sailor moon.

DBS Goku's scaling is more consistent. Heroes goku should stomp but i don't know how strong he is given that I don't like DBH
