The main thing that makes me doubt this is the case, is his off-site activity.

This is what I have issues with: it seems like he understands that it is against the rules, and points it out and has problems with it when used to upgrade (support of Tensura), but keeps quiet, but has no issue with it, and even uses it when it's for debunking (against Tensura).

That makes it seem much less of a "misunderstanding" and much more of pushing an agenda.

I strongly disagree.

These off-site posts aren't showing that they "understands it's against the rules", in that off-site post they literally say "MTL is machine translated, not saying its no usable, but it has nothing on the official translators".

The part that's more important to me is this post where they're told MTL is unusable, which they acknowledge by responding to it.

Although, I think this is mitigated by how they were told this in July, and since then they've spent months not on the forum at all.

So with these mitigating factors - I can imagine this slipping one's mind after that time, they now seem to understand it's disallowed, half of their invocations of MTL were clearly labelled (indicating it was a misunderstanding, rather than trying to be deceptive) - I think we should leave it at a strict warning for now.

Most of those were for editing issues, and spanned like 7 years.

I think in this case we can delete the post (and any posts that quoted it), warn that it's an infringement of this part of our Site Rules:

Derogatory comments on religious or political matters (both highly sensitive issues) will not be tolerated, as it almost always leads to massive hate-commenting and negativity. Doing so will result in a deletion of the post, and possibly a ban, depending on the severity.

And hopefully move on.

(Although tbf, that rule isn't a great fit, there's no other relevant one, and people in the thread seemed chill enough about it; so maybe let it slide?)

While criticism of historical figures is often valid, and I think it should generally be allowed, that post is blatant rage bait designed to stir up issues.

It's not something we should ban, if you ask me, but we should tell the person not to make statements like that in future.

I don't think it is, but speak to the people involved in the initial thread ban for that. In regards to this, probably best to stay out of it until it's resolved.

Well, example number 4 is probably factually accurate in terms of all the sum total longterm damage, death, exploitation, enslavement, and suffering that it caused to the population of Earth as a whole if we only look at the evaluation from a statistical viewpoint, rather than at the respective fundamental ideologies involved. Both examples were obviously absolutely satanically evil genocidally bigoted fascist supremacists though.

Regardless, I think that it was a genuine viewpoint rather than rage-bait. Deleting the post in question and the following discussion about that issue should probably be sufficient.

This take is obviously dogshit(whether you use consequentialism, deontology, or virtue ethics).
Opinion itself is not worthy of user ban by any means(unless historical illiteracy alone is considered to be good enough reason to ban users). But political opinions on such topics doesn't have place in this site. Post should be deleted and user should be warned

While, imho, I don't think anybody has broken rules, the discussion is getting a bit too heated and is drifting away from discussing the proposals and becoming more of a personal contention. I concur, and I can see how someone might come to that conclusion with a full understanding of history even if the opinion is very unpopular.

To me this is ultimately just a violation of our rules against discussing politics and/or sensitive issues, and I don't think any serious action is needed other than reminding them of that fact and deleting the offending posts.

For the record I thought as long as it wasn't getting too out of hand it was fine, which is why I didn't make or take any action, and I would've if it got too frisky, the users in question seemed to understand though and steered away from the topic so it didnt warrant any action from me in my eyes. But I do understand our stance and rules against talking about politics on the site so I'll be more on top of that

Did you use VPN? I had the exact same thing happen to me previously.

We don't automatically block for VPN use, but if any blocked user used that same VPN node, their block will apply to you until you stop using it,

What usually fixes is turning off the VPN and then turning it back on shortly after. It's happened to me and Antvasima before.

I don't think "Insulting an image" is all that bad. But editing other people's sandbox without consent is considered vandalism.

I don't believe so either, that's not meant to be valid complaints but more of 'This is all the interactions that have occurred between us on the sandboxes'. I put it there to be as honest as possible of the situation as saying there was absolutely nothing would technically be lying

That is a very serious and bold accusation to make for something highly subjective. From what I can tell from the general discussion this is something that is generally agreed upon or at least has a notable enough agreement for it to be at least viable for the CRT.

Also, I genuinely can't believe you did it again right before posting that. I understand that you undid it but that is actually wild to me.

Even if this was true, sandboxes are by their very nature not expected to be always complete and accurate.

Do not edit other people's sandboxes without permission. Otherwise, if you think something is wrong, just kindly let them know.

I think he's being a bit over the top calling people enemies, but I didn't see anything about denying anyone's humanity. The comment about people being "somehow" the same species as himself implies a degree of difference rather than necessarily being lesser. It's definitely heavy but I wouldn't say he's calling people what you're suggesting. It also seems as if he's talking about DB rather than people here.

All the same, attacking other people in the thread isn't reasonable.

Anyway, I remember years back that Kukui and several others proposed to permaban him for his genuine toxicity. But he still seems just as openly biased towards his preferred characters/verses as ever while also accusing people correcting him of being that. While not saying we need to take action, if he persists, we might need to go back to what was promised when we initially agreed to lift the ban.

I do tend to find Sean calms down when confronted about this though. He just gets revved up by something else later.

We always have said this when SASP has broken a rule after he got back though, when is the time where the line is crossed for an actual ban however?
