I think at least some action must be taken to reprimand this behavior, and to encourage being much more careful in the future, if these edits are indeed benevolent. I would recommend a ban of 1-2 months.

If it's genuinely not malicious, I think it makes sense to aim for a month or less.

Also, as a general note, 'AI detectors' are very unreliable and output countless false-positives, especially if the person writing is neurodivergent or otherwise writes very formally.

Indeed, it happened to be right in this instance, I just meant for the future it's not a reliable way to tell, and thus doesn't hold much weight as actual evidence.

They typically just check for notes of traditional formal writing since that's mostly what ChatGPT was trained on, but of course ChatGPT didn't get these habits from nowhere, and a lot of people simply do genuinely write 'like an AI' and are the ones who indirectly gave it those traits to begin with.

For example, it loves em dashes because real humans who write books also love(d) em dashes, and loves 'this, not X' because it's a common trope in journalism.

However, soon after, they have decided to promptly report me for "sabotage" of profiles despite the approval from the previous CRT. Is this even allowed? It's like they're trying to silence and attack me before I can even give any proper venue or counterargument.

I'll give it a shot. He was very Reactive as I've indicated before, making a downgrade CRT, promptly saying he's reporting me and clearly wants me punished harshly for "violations" so to silence me. If he was more level-headed, he would've stuck to simple level headed discussions in the downgrade CRT and not this.

One more time. The guy seems to be already aware that I was reported once before, and wants to capitalize rightaway by having me reported again to silence me. Someone already noted this to me on discord cause that's what that guy wants.

Can I clarify it myself? I feel like he thinks I had a personal problem with him. But no. I don't even know him and I just get to Wiki again to downgrade the verse purely based on my judgement with the scans. I also has provided (above) that the main argument in my thread is not AI generated (I collect the feats for hours as well). And I have stopped using AI to translate for me to compose words here.

Also the reason I contacted many staffs before, it's not because I want to silence him. It's because I afraid I'll forget it. The truth is, he's still open to debate in that thread (and I respond him without any malice intention; once again, I don't have any personal grudge).

I feel like it's wrong to suggest myself to do hateful acts towards him. I treat him with respect as well in my thread.

Also I don't want to silence him by reporting his violation. @FantaRin_The_First helped me to make a report about him. He had done multiple times vandalizing profiles (there's even a comment in here that helped make things more clear about this vandalizing stuff). That's clearly not my mistake. And I reported that not to spite him, but about he's own act that against the rules. I dunno why he thinks I do it like I had a personal problems. He's also the one who treat my thread as "nothingburger" and suddenly accuse me (just like @Mr. Bambu explanation and you can see it yourself in my thread).

This site is just a hobby for most, you should probably take some time and cool down. I understand your frustration, but there are civil ways to get the same message across.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're just too heated right now, and not advocate for any further punishment if you stop now, but taking this kind of hostility to the RVRT and doubling down is very bad for your case. Your history indicates that you have put some considerable work into this, so I believe you're passionate about it, and it would be a shame if a simple disagreement like this halted all significant progress.

When I had made the message the second video didn't play the 32 second clip of the scan, it instead played at the start of the full video. I was just wanting to help correct a minor mistake.
Checking the thread now it seems to have gotten corrected anyways, must've been a problem with the forum (I've had times where site doesn't embed my links properly before) since the post wasn't edited

So I want to continue contributing things I have knowledge of to the main wiki and even to the FC/OC version.

Once this is the response to a direct warning, the window closes. Initially, I had just banned this user for this- this is insanely out of line! This is so obviously a bannable response that I'm not sure why I undid that ban I just put through.

Because FinePoint offered what I will call divine benevolence in reaction to this, I will respect that ruling, but this is absolutely unacceptable behavior, and in practically any circumstance would be met with an immediate and permanent ban. You, Gyozu, need to respect the rules. It is not up for debate. We are not a daycare. We do not owe you a place in the community.

The matter can be considered closed. I will add this to the Warning Tracker if it has not been added already.

For the record, I am self-aware that I am probably too forgiving and understanding in general. I consider it a double-edged sword of a character trait in being both a virtue and potential flaw at the same time.

If it seems I am being too lenient, you needn't put so much weight on my opinion that you go against your own best judgement. I'm also very receptive to the opinions of other staff and if others think that a harsher punishment is more fitting I will not be upset or anything.

Just a note for the future. This particular case is obviously closed.

I have a bad conscience about that we might have been too draconian in giving a permanent ban for what were not very serious offences. Maybe it would be better to lessen the ban length to 2 or 3 months instead, so Gyozu does not have to feel completely excluded from something that helps them from being isolated and becoming more mentally unstable?

Ant, mental instability is not a free get-out-of-jail card. Mental instability should be even more of a reason for him to not come back to the wiki and instead to seek professional help, especially after he insulted staff TWICE in the RVT (He even insulted you). You're right, mental instability is never a free get-out-of-jail-card, but it's damn right a reconsideration of what happens to him.

Banning him for 3 months is more fair if anything, insulting staff is never this deep, we are not a draconian site of people who believe anyone who insults staff deserves to be banned forever. Neither are we a site who should dictate what someone who is insulted thinks, Ant knows himself, and although he is a bit too kind at times, he is not stupid. He believes the insult wasn't too severe and I'm sure the other insult of similar means wasn't too severe.

If we're seriously banning someone permanently from a hobby because they bloody get upset at the hobby we are far too harsh! Not only does it make them more happy, but it could lead to mental instability, that is a lot harder then people on this site claim it is.

I know you've probably gone through periods of mental instability, and so you should know that no one deserves to go through that over an insult that didn't affect the person!

You're right, he definitely should! However just because of that he doesn't deserve to be banned permanently.

I didn't ban him because he insulted you, I banned him because he acted poorly, was warned, reacted to that warning by doubling down, and only calmed down a tiny bit later. And then exploded again when his poor reaction before was deleted.

To an extent, I can understand caring about the mental instability of our users, but we must be given a base case of one's abilities to behave. We can't endorse users acting extremely badly and then justifying it by saying "well I'm having a bad day" or "well I'm not so well mentally". We can't confirm these things, nor can we assume someone facing punishment is going to be honest.

If a user is generally well behaved, acts out, and then says that they were just having a hard week and lashed out, they apologize and act the adult, that's a valid excuse in that case and I'd be in favor of potentially just ignoring the offense if it was a one-off. But in this instance, a relatively new user just abuses everyone around him at no provocation.

My vote would be to keep him banned. It isn't draconian to expect basic decency. He had three quick-fire offenses before action was taken.

Reading everything they have under 50 messages, their first CRT involved them immediately crashing out on a user who said the second linked video doesn't lead to a feat, and then tripling down on the subject.

Unbanning doesn't make sense to me and they never really apologized or admitted fault for them acting out of line, they just deflected. They had a similar thing with Ant a few months ago where they crashed out over an emoji.

The ban being rescinded makes no sense to me, however, if you want to go from a permanent ban to a one~ year ban I would get that. It's their first rule violation on-site.

I also did not know they had a history, and at least some kind of long ban does seem basically required in that case.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to making it something like a year or two instead with the hope that they'll find a way to address whatever in their life is making them so consistently angry.
