Incompetence and malice aren’t really mutually exclusive. If I take a gun and try to shoot someone, but stupidly hold the gun backwards and end up shooting myself, that doesn’t negate the fact that I still tried to shoot someone.

I do agree with not banning him for the global block, but I think he’s just a troll. I’d support keeping the ban for trollish behavior.

He says: “The reason I wanted to become an admin…” not “The reason I wanted to know how to become an admin...”

That doesn’t read to me as “I was curious on how they’re promoted.” It reads like he just wants the admin rights.

Even if that were the case, I really doubt that someone who was just curious abt promotions, would acknowledge that there are 23 active admins, and instead of asking any of them, go directly to a page that explicitly states it’s for adopting wikis and try to get admin rights that way.

I didn’t say he wasn’t. Trollish behavior can be a consequence of being young/immature. In fact, a common trope in people’s ban appeals is “Hey I wanna be unbanned, I was young back then and that’s why I was trolling blah blah”

Adding on to the Rey5h situation, he plagiarised multiple CSAP pages, such as this or this, that I think he was planning on proposing eventually, as Nasuverse was deleted.

The source of the CSAP pages that was copied mostly word for word— former and latter. I can also confirm this person in CSAP isn't him.

Not that sure on sandbox rules, but I did hear that plagiarising another's sandbox or messing with them in VSBW does lead to consequences, and since this happened within our fandom itself, I'm reporting it just in case. Apologies in advance, if this doesn't really matter, though.

I didn't speak much on the Re5yh situation but I would agree with the assessment that he doesn't seem actively out-and-out malicious, he's just doing silly things and, in my opinion, poorly wording his defenses. If he's banned on Fandom for a month then I'd say just keep him banned for that month. If plagiarism continues to be an issue we'll address that then.

Seems he copied a lot of stuff onto multiple wikis. Our official rule regarding plagiarism is the following:

Please do not plagiarise from other wikis or online databases. It is unprofessional and shows a lack of effort on the part of the user. If you are getting your information from another wiki, please rephrase and summarise the passage in your own words instead of simply copying it.

He technically didn't plagiarized other wikis to add to our pages, instead taking from us (which is a pretty common practice, as shown with the CSAP one I brought up) to add to others.

Reading up on Fandom's terms of use (more specifically, their Community Creation Policy, they state the following:

Text on Fandom communities is available under a free content license, meaning the information you put on the wiki can be copied and reused by anyone. This is very important to our goal of increasing the amount of free content in the world, but isn’t always what creators are looking for when searching for a content host.

Which means, he technically did nothing wrong per Fandom's own guidelines (which strikes me as curious why he got banned at all now, maybe there's something I'm missing), and fall onto us to decide what to do in regards to our own community. By a large technicality, he didn't break our rules. If we wanted to ban him (edit: or more correctly, extend his ban), I suggest making a staff thread to amend our plagiarism rule to include the fact users shouldn't take our page content and copy-paste to other wikis unedited.

The definition of appropriate credit:

Wiki page content wouldn't fall here, I believe. But a proper expert on copyright could say otherwise.

Edit: On my wall, Hammer did provide a clause that could still mean he may have indeed violated the CC licence, and thus punishable by Fandom's Term of Service. But if so, their one month ban would've been it in the first place, so I still don't believe a ban extension is appropriate under our own rules.

Since he wasn't warned before the Makima/Gojo thread (in which he really should've been), I opted more for a final warning.

Your instructions were for any spammy comment. You kept spamming the thread with nonsense, and it's a consistent thing you do on other threads. That's why you are now being given a final warning.

There seems to be at least a slight language barrier going on, but regardless I agree it's probably enough spam to warrant a 1 month ban.

That said, I can see how they might've interpreted it as a warning against Zalgo text specifically (due to the way it's known to lag or crash various devices), or for a specific thread.

That said, it's pretty common knowledge that Zalgo text can do that, and even if it wasn't: multiple people in the threads informed them it was disrupting their devices or expressed concern/confusion. In addition it should be common sense that extreme spam is bad. That is to say: I don't think they should've needed a warning to know not to do that, let alone two; so I don't exactly feel like we should be lenient.

Lephyr feels like it should be a final warning and they're the ones that brought it up. So I say trust their judgment here and issue a final warning regarding spam.
