Does it really though? I know that Pokémon are "ready for combat"or something like that but it doesn't seem very logical that an essentially wild animal would be more skilled than a human. Even if that human is Ron.

Ron hasn’t experienced a single real fight during all of his appearances. If there was a fight between an feral mentally disabled man who knows what to do in a combat situation, and a normal guy with little-to-no idea what to do in a combat situation, I’m placing my bets on the feral man.
