River City Girls Discussion Thread

More power-ups, huh? (Versus could also help with providing reaction speeds if certain kinds of projectiles are used by characters)

Does anyone know where the Enma global dodgeball feat comes from?

Potentially, we could use it to bump the verse up to Large Town level with the rock flying feat and Slick's feat. Provie should scale to Slick since she fought him in Underground, and she in turn scales to Misako and Kyoko when she fought them in RCG2. We could also potentially get City level if we use the Yamada feat too.

Now that we have a canon timeline to follow --

Would anyone be interested in redoing these calcs as some of them are outdated and in a blog post that's not likely to be accepted due to it's size?

1 and 3 are okay. 2 is from a remake, so I'm not sure. 4's link is broken. 5 and 6 are from the alternate continuity we talked about so, no. 7 is from Underground, so this should be fine and Provie should scale to it. 8 is fine as well. 9 is from a manga so we shouldn't scale it to any of the game characters. I should be able to submit 10 as a recalc as I don't see any problems with it. 11 should be fine, it's from Underground. 12 is from a live-action show, this cannot be used. 13/14 are from Underground and Misako and Kyoko fight Yamada/Slick in RCG so this should be fine. 15's link is broken. 16 should be fine. 17 is from a remake of Ransom so I'm not sure. 18 is from RCG, it's fine. 19 is from a live-action show, it cannot be used. 20 is from the alternate continuity.

Tl;dr

Feats 1,3,7,8,10,11,13,14,16, and 18 should be usable.
Feats 2 and 17 are maybes.
Feats 5,6 and 20 are from the Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun Special continuity.
9 is from a manga.
12 and 19 are from live-action shows.
And 4 and 15's links are broken.
Update on this.

1 I think is pretty much a weaker form of the calc we already have.
3 is sort of stuck in calc limbo but I estimate we can get Supersonic travel speed from it.
4 and 15 are from the live action non-canon Kunio stuff.
7 is kind of a dubious feat tbh.
8 is okay but its only Wall level. Not that impressive.
10 is already accepted. (Small Building)
11 is accepted. (Small Building)
13 is accepted (Building)
14 is accepted (Building)
16 another kind of dubious feat as we don’t really see Kunio and the gang survive the rock flight or it causing any kind of impact.
17 is just game mechanics.
18 is our highest possible feat at possibly City level if it is accepted but at this point, it seems to be a heavy outlier and will most likely get a With Weather Manipulation tier.

With Sabu’s feat at 6:22:46

and this feat at 6:27:11

This will probably yield Building level results as well.

Right now, Kunio-kun is consistently Building level.

Sabu's Kamehameha is Wall level unfortunately.

However the punch that sends him flying out of the building is City Block level. Expect either Large Building or City Block scaling for Kunio and Double Dragon.

The official timeline says that Double Dragon 3 comes before II for some reason, which is... weird but okay. It also confirms that the Japanese version is the canon version and that IV is canon.

However, that's not to say that Neon isn't canon either. It's not as an open and shut a case as IV, but it did have Yoshihisa Kishimoto's involvement and approval. It also would grow on to be definitively canon to River City Girls, which happens far later in the timeline when the Lee Brothers retire. The game takes mention of events like ninjas and temples directly calling back to DD3. Sonny Lee also appears in River City Girls 2, directly calling back to DD3. Burnov who debuted in Double Dragon II appears in the game as well. Even Kodani, a Double Dragon IV character, appears in the game too. It's safe to say that the games are all canon to RCG as well.

Nice job.

At this rate, I wonder if both verses would share a page much like Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting, or stay the same as they're now (given alternate continuities like aforementioned live-action drama series and a 1994 movie which connects to the Neo-Geo fighting game).

Probably would be best to keep it separate for now because of the other continuities Double Dragon has and Kunio-kun likewise.

Looks like the Sabu punch is actually just Small Building too.

Oh well. At least we have Building level stuff.

Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun Special starts a new continuity as a remake of the original game. River City: Tokyo Rumble is a sequel to this in the same continuity, as does Rival Showdown and All Stars Special.

However, Battle Royale Special returns to the same continuity of the original games despite saying that it takes place after All Stars Special. We can then consider that All Stars Special just took place in both timelines, but... uh... idk.
Revising my statement here because it would make more sense to fit Kunio-Kun Special as a canon remake since All Stars considers the games continued from it canon.
