Report thread for inappropriate advertisements in this forum

Oh it wasnt just a popup, i was actually redirected to the site in question. It was in my browser history. Golly, probably got malware from that alone sigh.

Can I just paste the url here or do you want me to PM it to you Ant?
 
Hmm. That is not good at all.

However, we will try to switch to a new larger advertisement provider with very good ethical reputation soon, that claims to be able to bring us more revenue. The only potential "problem" is that it is mostly focused on a female audience, and our audience is mostly male, but we hope that it will work out well.

Hmm. Unfortunately (?) I cannot see that advertisement, as it says that I need to give Google access to tracking cookies in order to do so, which I would much prefer to avoid.

It also seems to be a Google Drive link, which might publicly compromise my personal privacy if I click it.

What is the advertisement's contents?

Sorry I'm not good at posting screenshots here (I thought it was visible for everyone) essentially it says:

"Make sure you're alone before looking these most indecent photos" (yes it's worded exactly like that) then has a picture of a woman in a suggestive position, naturally I didn't click on the link nor post it here but it is sus.
 
Okay. That seems suspicious, yes, but in the future you should probably upload the screencapture image to another platform, such as Imgur, instead, and also copy the advertisement link without clicking on it. Otherwise there isn't much that we can do about the problem. 🙏
 
I don't know if this is the place to do it. but when I have long comments, ads appear in my comment section, even as I am typing out the comment. I'm unsure if this is an issue on my end of the site. I have tried to replicate but it seems to no longer be appearing. So perhaps this comment will just be a documentation that this sort of thing can happen.

That seems serious. I can ask our forum system manager about it, but he likely cannot do much about it without available screen capture images to illustrate the nature of the problem. 🙏

You need to ask this user why he added this link. You can also edit the post and check if advertisement text with link is there or not.

I may be wrong, but what seems to be happening is when you write a text on mobile, and an add is poped up, you accidentally copy/move the link from the pop-up ad to the writing text.

Honestly, that has happened to me quite a few times on the the wiki as well.

I haven't intentionally copy pasted any ads onto anything. These ads simply show up on my screen while I'm typing and then links appear in my post that I didn't add. I don't know why it happens.

It is only a partial solution though. He will ask our advertisement provider for further information. 🙏

It still happens but they dont link off site anymore

If somebody shares a screencapture image featuring the problematic advertisement in question, that would be of great help for our advertisement provider to properly identify it.

We have disallowed popup advertisements, so if you see any of them anyway, that is likely the culprit. 🙏
