I was looking for for a 6-C Soulslike character to pit against the Ruined Dragon from Oddessy, but I remembered Akuma was 6-C and this seemed cooler.

Location: Lethal Lava Land
Starting Distance: 10 meters
Base 6-C Mario is being used, and gets his standard equipment except for what puts him into Low 6-B.
Speed Equalized.

So, Akuma is slightly stronger then Mario here. Mario has dealt with master Martial Artist's before and has fought a large variety of opponents so he should be able to keep up here. Mario's more versatile with his power ups and can do things like freeze him with the Ice Flower. I'm not gonna vote yet but I feel like Mario can outlast Akuma long enough with mushrooms and 1-ups to be able to take him out.

Would the Raging Demon even work on Mario, cause Mario is a good guy and he hasn't committed that much sins if any at all. Minus the few times he has been jealous towards Luigi

given what koopa said I think Mario has more battle experience, more varied arsenal, not on PC however so I'm holding my vote

Akuma's definitely more skilled (Mario's beaten expert martial artists but not really ones as specialized and with feats as clear cut as especially higher end SF people, although honestly I don't think there's anything too insane in terms of feats for the verse) but I think Mario can win here, depending on his equipment (I'm not sure what exactly he's being given here).

Ok, sorry for not responding sooner. I've been busy moving to a house a few miles away from my current one and I may or my not have slipped off the back of a U-haul truck and ate shit.

As for Mario's equipment, I didn't initally think to hard about it because it's technically in a different tabber, but now, but I just noticed that his standard equipment says "Hammer, Power-Ups, and items". It's a bit vague, so I'm just going to rectify this quickly by saying that he gets his standard hammer, one Fire Flower, one Ice Flower, and one Super Bell.

why does he get those few instead of like, the entirety of his available standard equipment

doin the whole "pick-and-choose" thing should only be applicable to his optional equipment

and Mario's AP is scaled to 24.49 gt, since the 33.66 gt is reserved for those who scale to DK and up

I guess, kind of questionable if he really should have those in standard to begin with. But if he's got all his stuff he probably wins.

Mario does scale to DK, he's just inferior.

As mentioned before, his standard equipment section is obnoxiously vague. I’m willing to give some leeway on this, but it should be discussed by everyone here.

there are tabbers in his P&A that should've helped with the confusion
And if we went purely off the tabbers, that means Mario would have multiple forms of invulnerability off the bat...

And I'm unsure if would be acceptable to just not give him his standard equipment at this point.

that's kinda the point, it's there to provide a better explanation

the only stuff that puts him at Low 6-B are his invincibility power-ups, so just restrict that (if you can, I don't remember)

you'd have to specify it in the OP though

Yeah in that case Mario has a whole lot of healing and options here. I think Akuma might still edge it out if it wasn't for 1-ups but I think Mario does just outlast him. Might be a stomp if Mario straight-up has 99 of them or whatever the item cap is in the RPGs.

Unironically it's pretty easy to argue that 1-UPs need to be used by someone else on Mario to be effective, considering in the games he still goes to the beginning of the level and in Mario and Luigi he is down and out until his brother rams one of those shrooms down his throat
