Quick Re:Zero Downgrade

I mean that's the general assumption with 99% of cloud feats when there isn't a way to directly measure their size 🤷‍♀️
Except the text doesn't say they cut the horizon it says they cut individual clouds apart with their strikes. So nah, it can't be the assumption here. It just doesn't work.

I already agreed that the second feat is bunked tho? I thought we were talking about the main cloud splitting feat

They did use the standard 20km and other values present on our cloud calc page that are available under normal context but I do think things can definitely be changed and that feats like this should probably wait for visuals for a better look.
Stay tuned for season 6 of Re Zero in 2032.....

Idk if using Todd as an argument for an anti-feat works, he is described as an average solider but with all his plans have killed people far more powerful people than himself. In Re Zero, superhuman feats are done via the cast amping themselves, I suppose we could maybe say Todd caught Rowan off guard? Idk, haven't read that scene in a while, about the dc arguments there, would be like saying because characters don't level a city every time they fight, they can't be city level. But Idk if i want to go down the rabbit hole of arguments.

Cloud cutting is part of the narrative when it comes to Rowan, and it's brought up many times, and speaking of the narrative Tappei himself said from memory that in previous arcs he wanted Re Zero to be grounded, but come to Arc7/8, he changed his mind, so it's not exactly wrong to say previously the cast were intended to be like 8-C or whatever rating they were years ago, but it's been retconned.

But yea this looks like a thread which is gonna devolve into all kinds of arguments.

Now that the calculation has been redone and accepted, would you accept using the new calculation?

Nah.

Anyway celestial won't reply :(

You called?

Downgrade to 8-A is fine. Since 8-A is for Cecilus tier people though, I assume people below that level will go back to 8-B? I forgot what tier they were before, but if memory serves me right they were 8-B scaling to the Whale who survived being smash by the Flugel tree, and Rem and Emilia have a couple 8-B calcs as well.

8-A scales to Rowan who then scales to a bunch of other characters. There's also this, and there's also feats like Emilia + weaker Priscilla stopping Mezoreia's dragonbreath or Emilia + Julius resisting the Magic Crystal Cannon's shot. There is also this.
Forgot about this, wasn't this stated to be able to destroy half a city? That would be consistent with that High 7-C Whale calc.

Yea, looking through my feats list, it's breath was indeed stated to be able to blow away nearly half a city

Any normal person would have found their hands numb, having been made unable to hold a weapon, having been made it so that moving their body was incredibly difficulty. Even a strong person would be affected by no small amount.

Precisely because Emilia had chosen this fighting style, she could only fight on her own.

At the very least, this time.

Mezoreia: “――I, am Mezoreia. In accordance with the voice of mine dear child, I shalt become the wind from the heavenly skies.”

The sky was covered with low, thick clouds, and Emilia’s amethyst eyes twinkled as she heard a voice from overhead that sounded so heavy that she wondered if the sky itself had spoken.

There was a declaration of its supernatural presence, and in the very subsequent moment, a blow beyond human understanding was unleashed.

The mere flick of its tail could rip the earth apart, the swing of its claws could rend space in two, its great breath was powerful enough to blow away nearly half a city. It truly was extraordinary.

It was unmistakably a Dragon, a legend which Emilia had now encountered twice in just a short period of time.

Emilia: “――――”

There was a jerk from its unfurled wings, and the wall of ice Emilia had erected was effortlessly torn apart. Although not quite as solid as iron, she had done her best to harden it. And yet, it had been easily broken, and before Emilia could feel any disappointment or surprise, she was hurriedly dodging bullets of ice hurtling towards her.-Arc 7, Chapter 99

Also from memory, Mezoreia creates clouds just by its presence, which is kinda in this quote too.

Emilia & Julius holding back the Magic Crystal Cannon for a bit.
Emilia: “――Subaru!!”

Before the imminent light of Death annihilated Subaru’s existence, Emilia reached out her hands and deployed an ice barrier, which violently collided head-on with it.

At the same time, Subaru was pulled up by his collar and his body fell to the ground at Emilia’s feet. In front of Subaru’s eyes, the fake Ryuzu, who was closer to the light than Subaru, was engulfed by the white light, and disappeared.

Perhaps this had always been the case.

That white light was something unleashed aiming for the fake Ryuzu. Her presence became the marker for the white light to aim at, and the aftermath of the impact swallowed Subaru and the others, as well as the coupled dragon carriage.

She became a living target of overwhelmingly powerful bombardment as she traveled into the midst of the enemy―― No, since she had died, she was a dead target. Either way, the one who had originally proposed that was completely crazy.

Subaru: “That damn idiot Valga Cromwell――!!”

Julius: “Al Clauseria!!”

Subaru’s heartfelt cry was met by Julius’s incantation as he thrust the tip of his sword toward the light.

A rainbow aurora was born, its brilliance collided with the white light like a wall; it just barely restrained the light enough to prevent it from shattering the several ice barriers created by Emilia.

A white light of destruction, and the protective ice wall clad in an aurora.

Unlike the last time, when they had no choice but to face it without sufficient preparation, there was time to formulate strategies against the white light. This was the reason why Emilia and Julius were able to resist the attack compared to the last time. But, even still――

Emilia: “Ugh, yaaaah――Hk!”

Julius: “Guh, kuu… Hk.”

With desperation in their voices, Emilia and Julius fought against the white light.

But, for this to be something that even the combined efforts of these two could not overcome, just how powerful was it? Unable to do anything in this situation, Subaru could only support Emilia’s back as she stood her ground.

Subaru: “Hang in there! You two, keep it up!”

Clenching down on his molars, and unable to provide physical support, Subaru shouted out psychological support.

It would have been nice if that roused the two of them and gave them the strength to extinguish the white light completely, but things did not tend to go so smoothly.

No matter what the situation, salvation would not be suddenly offered out of the void. —Arc 8, Chapter 19

Another example of Mezoreia's breath.
That next moment, responding to Madelyn’s outburst, the Cloud Dragon’s roar shook the Imperial Capital once more.

Until just before, Garfiel had kept Madelyn positioned inside the city, and he put in hard work to ensure that the direction in which she unleashed the breaths would be towards the outside of the city. With that, he had fought while maintaining vigilance over the length and width of the attack range of the Dragon’s breath, but here, those hard efforts would be reduced to naught.

Unleashed from the uttermost south of the city, the Crystal Palace that was directly at the city’s northernmost point was captured within its range. The rays of destruction that had been charged up within the Dragon’s body scorched the street, reducing buildings to dust, destroying everything in its line of fire, and it was about to penetrate the north―― if Garfiel had not been there. —Arc 8, Chapter 55
In regards to the reality before his eyes, those had been the words of the red-haired man as he trembled with fear. There had even been some fear towards Garfiel, who had resisted the Dragon’s breath, and endured, but that was different for Madelyn.

For Madelyn, malevolent blades stabbed into her as she reflected on her own actions.

It was as the red-haired man had said. If Garfiel had not stopped her, her roar would have erased the Imperial Capital.

Even though the Crystal Palace within the line of fire would have contained Madelyn’s body, as well as Balleroy and Carillon. —Arc 8, Chapter 55

Yea idk why we were even giving the cloud calcs that heavy a focus, plenty of stuff to work with here lol.

Forgot half a city, Mezoreia can wipe out a whole city, which Garfiel blocked.

Magic canon is also stated to be able to wipe out a large city

One of them was Emilia, who had angered Madelyn Eschart more than had been assumed she would, causing the latter her to invoke the Cloud Dragon.

And yet, even if that added some change in the coloration of the picture Abel had painted, they were not incidents that had altered its final form massively.

If one of the five bastions on the points of the star-shaped ramparts that defended the Imperial Capital were to be broken through, then the means to seize victory, even if the other bastions were locked in stalemate, would exist.

For those who painted over the picture, the main reason why they were unable to make it sway, no matter what they did, was Moguro Hagane―― No, it was the Meteor which governed the Crystal Palace, the heart of the Vollachian Empire.

The Crystal Palace boasted beauty of preeminent status within the world, the magic crystals forming the crystal portion of the Palace of particular purity even amongst magic stones. Making the Palace itself into a weapon to attack outside enemies.

The Mana stored within the Palace could be passed through the magic crystals located everywhere in the building to amplify it, to then be released through the Magic Crystal Cannon installed on the top-most floor of the Crystal Palace.

That power was able to bring about enough destruction to wipe out the entirety of a large city―― legends said that in the past, when it had been used hundreds of years prior, its target had been a Great Disaster.-Arc 7, Chapter 96

And cleave the horizon

――In this decisive battle for the Imperial Capital, there were several people painting over the picture Abel had painted.

One of them was the existence of Priscilla, who had joined the battle of the first bastion to which Yorna Mishigure had headed.

One of them was Otto, who, through use of his Divine Protection, had demonstrated his ability to gather information on the details of the battle’s progression.

One of them was Garfiel, who, instead of entering a deadlock with Kafma Irulux, had been able to crush the latter.

One of them was Emilia, who had angered Madelyn Eschart more than had been assumed she would, causing the latter her to invoke the Cloud Dragon.

And then――

???: “――Foolish.”

In the distance, beyond the hulking, writhing city walls of Moguro Hagane, lay the Crystal Palace, the very heart of the beloved Imperial Capital, the symbol of the Vollachian Empire’s authority.

Only a few people even knew of that weapon set atop that beautiful palace, and in fact, even the General did not know of the existence of the Magic Crystal Cannon until he had heard about it from Abel.

Zikr Osman had risked his life to make them misfire that single, precious shot of this decisive weapon that, if fired, would cleave the horizon and completely disrupt the tide of battle.

Riding his beloved horse across the front lines, he appealed loudly that they had the chance to win the battle, and while rallying up the rebels, he had appealed for their support in order to get the Magic Crystal Cannon to focus on them.-Arc 7, Chapter 96

Which looking at this being cleaving the horizon, would mean a radius of like 20km, which would put the this feat ironically at 7-A looking at the explosion page.

But yea Empire arc power escalation is crazy.

Looks like y'all don't have to rely on shady cloud feats after all.

I mean, no, there are still four major cloud feats that the majority of the cast scale from so they are absolutely necessary to scale this series. It just sounds like there might be something to replace the feats being discarded here for the upper mid-tiers.

anyway to get this closed and finalized i started updating ppl to the new 8-A value.

a thread can be made later if u want to use a different feat/statement for scaling, but this one has served its purpose already so yuh

would also appreciate help since there is like 50 profiles xd

I mean editing 50 profiles for a downgrade, just to have the characters back to 7-A a day or week later is a massive waste of energy, but yea i don't feel up to it myself lol.

Still need to apply revisions for another verse.

how certain r u that they will be upgraded back? cus if that is the case i just wont do it

Pretty certain, low end would probably be 7-B, but 7-A probably makes more sense. We just have to get a calc for the magic canon.

But yea I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

since only garf's profile was updated as far as i can see, and it just sticks out like a sore thumb, should i revert it?
