Question about resistance to soul manipulation

Does a resistance to soul manipulation give a general defense against spiritual attacks? Like in the case of one piece would characters with resistances do fine against straight up spiritual attacks?

Iirc, isn't One Piece's resistance more about controlling souls rather than outright damaging them?

Unless you don't mean "spiritual attacks" as in like physically chipping away at the soul or something.

Yeah that’s why I used OP as an example since its more controlling. I was wondering if that extended to damage to the soul but judging by your response I’d assume no.

Generally, no. Resisting someone controlling your soul does not make it resist all kinds of Soul Manipulation
Specific resistances do not necessarily translate to broad ones, though resisting a versatile power with many applications (such as Mind Manipulation) may provide a similarly expansive defense. Even then, when the same ability is performed differently, resistance may prove futile. For example, a character may resist mind manipulation that targets the brain directly, but would be in trouble against a power that targets some incorporeal idea of the mind itself.

Well in the case of One Piece, they also resist soul damaging attacks (cutting souls in half, etc). But to answer the original question, resisting one type of soul manipulation doesn't grant resistance to all types of soul manipulation unless stated otherwise in the specific scenario.

Depends on what resistance means and what their manipulating in the context but not inherently
