Is it really necessary with a staff forum thread for this particular issue though, given that I understand our current rules in the manner stated below? Maybe some minor further clarification regarding alternative continuity characters, to avoid misunderstandings?

Also, as far as I understand our rules in the manner they are currently written, we do have general policy points about a minimum of 20 appearances for Marvel Comics characters in general, and about that alternative continuity characters need to have prominently been the main characters in their own comicbooks.

I agree with Empress's point only in the notion that the character in question has enough detail within those two appearances to be fleshed out. Inconsistency isn't a bother, its a given and we can bend those rules a bit.

As long as we don't let them mess up the scaling (by not letting the scale to their mainline counterparts, which is already a rule), I don't think that would be much of an issue. Yeah, it would be great if people helped out more with that scaling instead of creating new pages, but if you don't let them create new pages for Marvel, most people would just do that for other verses instead.

I can understand some concern about making revisions more difficult, by DPLs finding characters of a certain tier who shouldn't actually be revised due to them scaling to their own AU stuff instead of mainline things, but I'd think a better solution to that would be creating a category for Marvel characters that are part of the main universe.

Well, beyond the scaling problems, Marvel Comics has tens of thousands of characters, and I want us to focus on the more prominent ones, and we already have around 660 of them featured in our wiki, which likely is a lot more than for any other verse there, rather than drown in irrelevant extremely obscure characters with extremely few appearances.

If this is a divisive enough matter to have made up this many posts with this many varied perspectives and opinions, then it should preferably be discussed in a dedicated thread, and not here. I don't have much to say on it; I don't tend to interact with the Marvel Comics profiles. But whatever you settle on, it would just be good for everyone else who might need this thread if it is not sidetracked.

Yeah, I think the main points of order are "Can these characters simply be significant parts of these alt-canon runs, or do they have to be the main protagonists of them?" and "Can these characters scale to others from within those alt-canon runs, or do they need their own direct feats?"

I'm not sure if you're arguing for all the profiles to stay, especially since that would include the calcs, but I've worked just as hard to make similar profiles for Pokemon, and my CRTs to upload them have received little to no support. It doesn't really matter how hard they've worked if they're not something that fits the site. He didn't write or steal the pages, but he did turn them from blog posts into real pages.

I do not remember the specifics, but if some of our blog posts were inappropriately converted into regular wiki explanation pages (in order to more easily allow longterm community collaborations to improve on and update their contents, and also make them more official), you should probably create a staff forum thread about it.
