Powerless - Role Play Thread

"Activating maximum thrust. Overwrite threshold. Codename: A6." Tosho said, pushing a button over on the interface as the screen goes red around her.

The ship's reactor glowed and hummed as an AI hologram appears behind her.

<<NOTIFICATION: USAGE OF OVERRIDE MAY CAUSE MELTDOWN>>

"Yeah, yeahhhh... it's kinda whatevs.."

With decades of experience to boot, Tosho maneuvered the ship. Each turn narrowly evaded the projectiles and the ships altogether.

"Go get the Onyx Shields. Derive power from Reactor Core."

She couldn't care less if the crew was turned upside down. It'll be less of a hassle if they got hospitalized rather than have severe injury from a crash.

"Activating maximum thrust. Overwrite threshold. Codename: A6." Tosho said.
“Wait..you said maximum th-” Nick’s words were cut short, swallowed by the chaos erupting outside. The enemy vessel had unleashed a desperate counteroffensive, lasers streaked across the void, next to incoming missiles, each impact shaking their ship like a thunder
The ship, which was constantly attacking everyone with turrets, proceeded to unleash a pair of heat-seeking missiles, this will make hard to Tosho get close unless she active a way to defend the ship

But thrusting directly against the enemy meant only one thing: collision. The two ships, locked in a deadly trajectory, hitting against one another in a violent clash. Metal screamed as armor plates buckled, shockwaves rippling through both hulls. The damage was catastrophic; yet by some miracle, neither vessel was annihilated. It was as if fate itself had intervened to prevent mutual destruction.

From Delta Team’s perspective, the world dissolved. First came blinding white, a flash so intense it erased all detail. Then blackness, heavy and suffocating, as if the void itself had swallowed them whole. Slowly, vision returned. Their cabin was a ruin: wires dangled like torn sinew, shards of metal littered the floor, and sparks leapt from shattered panels, casting erratic shadows across the wreckage.
Delta Team had survived but survival was a fragile word in the aftermath of such devastation

(Thought someone one could notice we are kinda going to clash if back character do that, i was hopping someone point out that 😭 )

Inside the enemy ship, the world convulsed as though an earthquake of magnitude eight or greater had struck, the entire structure shuddered violently. The captain and crew were thrown from the very ground were they stand, tumbling helplessly as consoles sparked and alarms wailed in every direction.

Even Rox felt the sudden betrayal of gravity. For a brief, terrifying moment, the artificial stabilizers failed, leaving her suspended in weightless chaos. Then, without warning, gravity snapped back into place, slamming her against the walls with brutal force. She ricocheted across the cabin, striking metal and plating

"Yup! We're cruising."

The vessel didn't have enough time to fire, as the ship she drives holds shields that reflected the laser's impact. The missiles exploded but revealed no dent whatsoever on the hull or any other part of the vessel, covered only by the holographic shields.

The ship didn't crash into another. While there wasn't any weapons allowed to be built on her ship, Manus' guidelines never once put their peepholes into the shields and force fields for they are — in every sense of the term — meant to be defensive. Tosho couldn't give a single sh*t about that.

Perhaps not out of laziness and the willingness to actually put in effort despite the allegation of punishment brought by someone probably named Oliver or Athe, Tosho pressed a button on the reddish crimson interface.

<<FORCEFIELDxBREAKER>>

Upon making contact with the ship, the barrier coalesces around them before the sound of glass shattering can be "heard" from space. Well, not really the shattering, but perhaps the view provided the from Delta Team’s perspective caused the world to dissolve.

"Woah oh oh oh!!!"

She was caught off guard by the sudden shift in gravity, especially when it got back to normal, getting herself some painful injuries upon her body from all the slamming

Although Rox tries to minimize it eventually with her gloves, which allows her to control gravity, thus preventing any further harm

"F*ck it hurts...aagh...just power through...when its over...you can lay down soldier...come on...mnggh!"

After picking herself up, she gets a move on, cant stay in place, not in such a state either if a potential attack occurs while sitting

(Well, I talk with Javenplayz253, e said he's not interested in continuing to play, but honestly, I can't just erase his character existence as if he never existed, at least not at this point, if we werent in mission i could just said "He was resigned.". The lock works perfectly to solve this problem, as it adds a quest for our beloved Medic, which begins now! Good luck; if he succeeds, Garret becomes an NPC under my control or another player's. Faileru is dead and will probably be added to the list of people the Medic lost.)

Nick sat frozen for a moment, his chest heaving as he tried to steady his breath. The crash had left the cabin rattling with the sound of settling metal. Finally, with trembling metallic fingers, he unbuckled his seatbelt and glanced at the others

“Okay,” he muttered “that was insane.”

For what he see, most of the crew looked shaken but intact; some scrapes, bruises, wide eyes but Garret was different. The sudden braking had whipped his head violently back and forth, the kind of motion that strained muscles and ligaments beyond their limit. His skull had slammed against the headrest, the impact reverberating down his spine.

Nick’s stomach dropped as he saw Garret clutching at his neck, his body jerking in spasms.

“Garret!” Nick shouted, moving closer but afraid to touch him, if he does a wrong move, it could make things catastrophic. If Garret’s neck was broken, time was against them. Without immediate help, the injury could prove fatal

-------------------------------------

"Alright, that was hell" One of the crew members said while lying on the ground in pain
"Can someone explain me what just happen"

"Nobody move him! All of you, back up! Now!"

The man was already moving, hands steady as he slid behind Garret. He braced his head between his palms, locking his spine in place with his forearms.

"Garret, don't fight me. Don't move, don't nod, don't shake your head. Just breathe," the Doctor said softly. He felt the engineer's muscles twitch under his grip as pain rippled through him in sharp, involuntary spasms.

"Can you hear me? Say something. Don't try to touch or move your neck. Can you feel your hands? Just answer me," he spoke calmly.

Garrett, with all his might, tried to fight the urge to move his body abruptly. He made a sound akin to the one a person makes when half asleep and responded with yes.
"We have to move him from here to the medic area" Nick said but his words where half a question since this is the first time dealing with the situation, so not want to do an error

The Doctor glanced at Nick.

"Yeah, I know. Good thing we just happened to have worked on something that could help. See that collar on my belt? Just place it around his neck, and it should work like a cervical brace. Once his head is secured, don't unbuckle him. The seatbelt is doing half of my job. We'll move the seat with him," he instructed while still holding Garret's head in place.

A hologram appeared with Tosho laid back as the crash happened. The white droid was with her, having focused the shield towards the cockpit at the very last second. Her voice echoed with glitches as she spoke through the microphone:

With that said, Nick took the collar and moved to the side. Standing on his tiptoes, he placed it around Garrent's neck.

"Okay, ye, we can do this" he said nervously while don´t unbuckle him, but ready to see if they could prevent another death.

Roxanne stays a bit at a corner to support her back, then tries to call on the team through her comms

"Guys? On my end we experienced zero gravity and rough landings from when it got to normal, what is the status on your ends? Is everything ok?"

(Thought you were gonna describe how the collar works or something since you're in control of Garret now)
"Easy. Slowly. Don't force it. Just let it sit."

After it was worn, the frame began unfolding automatically. Smart material expanded and stiffened into a rigid brace with micro-actuators adjusting to the patient's neck and shoulders. Pressure sensors detected whether his head was properly aligned with his spine before locking in place to prevent further injury. The whole process took only a few seconds.

"You okay Garret? It doesn't hurt, does it? That's another breakthrough we just made right there.", the medic smiled and complimented. He eased a fraction of pressure from Garret's head, just enough to feel whether the collar was taking the load before settling back in place.

Even though they had tested it many times, there was a slightest doubt in his mind that something could go wrong right at that moment.

"No. Just... Clear the path to medbay, then prepare scans for spinal cord injury while waiting for us.", the Doctor commanded and sighed.

Why are you so slow now? Why not go full speed? Crash and injure someone again! Let me clean up your messes as always!

...

Focus. Collar locked. Chest strapped. Patient conscious and breathing.

He looked at Nick.

"Stay calm Nick. You're helping out a lot here. We're gonna lift him up now. You on the front, me on the back. Ready? I'll count to 1. Slow and steady. 3... 2... 1!"

Garret made a faint sound; nothing dramatic, just enough to prove he was still present and holding on. It was the kind of noise that suggested he was concentrating, forcing himself to do the least possible movement while still reminding the others he was alive.

Nick take a breath. When the Doctor counted to 1 and lifted Garret, Nick moved in sync to do the same, their motions quick but measured

They both knew they had to act quickly, but without recklessness. After the collision, debris might be scattered across the ground, causing them to trip, and any sudden misstep could easily lead to another accident.

As the bot clear the path, they maybe have the oportunity to save Garrent

With the overthrowing of CYLAM's faculties, Tosho allowed the now-possessed robot to send waves of gravity to the obstacles ahead and destroy them. At the same time, its other hands were used to carry Garret all on its own.

"Even through the screen, I know what you feel. Despite that, you still don't say it straight to my face."

A6 here: I'll try salvaging any components left here and integrate it onto the vessel for hijacking.

Responded back and stays leaned over the wall she was at

When they arrived at the medical area, the place bore the marks of the collision between the ships. The atmosphere was chaotic and somewhat damaged: pills scattered on the floor, overturned chairs, a couple of medical instruments out of place as they had been thrown around by the shock. However, the essentials remained mostly intact

Nick paused for barely a second, just long enough to send a message to Jael:

"Okay, Jael, could you please go outside and watch the perimeter? You don't need to go too far inside the enemy ship. Just check what's outside first and make sure nothing tries to get in here."

He was aware that they have to taked this seriously

Armed with the Tempus Railgun, Jael moves toward the entrance of the ship.

Message Log from <JAEL> to <ALL>: Affirmative.

From an angle, Jael had the gun positioned at the entrance of the door. It rested between Jael's left arm and was propped on Jael's left leg. This would enable Jael to position the gun should firing be required using only the forearm and thigh, and a hand would be free to ensure the Delta Squad Heavy would also be able to use the equipped adamantine blades in the case of a close quarters combat flank.

So far nothing happen, no changed, Jael's ears only hear the sound of some sparks from broken wires and the sound og dripping oil
----

"Should we check the surrounding?" one of the people with Rox asked her

Now thid only leave Nick and the Doc, Nick manage to reach the scanner and pass it to the Doctor, so he can see how damage is inside of his body

"You have a drone or something? Not sure if we can just casually look around in our states"

Asks the redhead, although even if they didnt, she and this crew still had to take a look around some way or another, but doesnt hurt to ask

Jael swiftly moves in a few feet further into the ship. Snapping to cover, Jael once again takes a similar position to the one assumed outside of the ship. Railgun in one hand, adamantine claws ready on the other. Using exceptional hearing, Jael still kept position for at least a solid 30 seconds before moving further.

They denied it with a sharp shake of the head.

“But we can check if the exterior cameras of the ship if still function” the captain said to Rox

As Jael moved on, a faint sound reached jael´s ears: a metallic scraping, sharp and unsettling. It could have been a piece of the ship breaking off, giving way under the strain of battle, but there was another possibility. Jael vaguely remembered Rox mentioning, before the collision, that she and her group had been ambushed by machines

Meanwhile, the Doctor quickly cleared the floor and checked on his equipment to make sure they were functional. He adjusted the height of the med table then turned to the others.

"Same rules as before. We slide him over."

The transfer was slow and careful, every movement measured. Once Garret was settled on the table, the medic locked the stabilizers into place and only then eased his hands away from the collar.

"Stay still, okay? We got through the hard part.", he reassured his patient.
Now thid only leave Nick and the Doc, Nick manage to reach the scanner and pass it to the Doctor, so he can see how damage is inside of his body
"Thanks Nick. You're handling this way better than most people. Let's see what's wrong with him.", he turned on the device as it began scanning Garret from head to toe.

Tosho remained in the cockpit. As much as she would toughen up herself, she received the worst out of everyone there. Not "worst" as in getting mortally wounded, she doubts she could truly die if even her dead corpse was reanimated by MANUS for their benefit...

It was "worst" in the fact that she was stuck under the rubble of the destroyed cockpit. They were reinforced, sure. They were protected by barriers even... but only through CYLAM could she talk through right now.

As CYLAM would surround them, Tosho talked through it:

"I'll say this again. CYLAM can help assist you in the procedure. You can go and blame me for shit later on, but at least be an adult and let the machine help you."

"You're permitted to help. I never said otherwise. In fact, I was urging you to help.", the man said blankly. His gaze was locked on Garret and the scanner.

The CT scan revealed a fracture in the lumbar vertebrae, the jagged edges of which threatened the delicate spinal cord.

They had to find a way to fuse the fractured vertebrae and perform a decompression to relieve the pressure on the spinal cord.

In a sense, this was also a race against time, not only to repair the bone, but to preserve movement in garret´s life

"Are these available nearby or we have to go somewhere else blind first?"
"It is located in the pilot area"

"Fine... I'll go relinquish CYLAM's controls to you...." (You get to control the character for now)

"In that case, let us move on people, we dont have time to waste"

She gets up as straight as she could, blowing air out in pain, before moving on along
After a short minute walk through the ship, where they saw various items scattered on the floor, they reached the cockpit; broken glass and all stuff useless

The captain approached to his seat and pulled what appeared to be one of those old tablets out from under a panel.

Upon turning it on, he tried to access the cameras. Cameras 4 and 3 were offline, so they were likely destroyed. Cameras 1 and 5 only showed what appeared to be a wall.

But camera 2.. they could see the area outside in complete destruction: pieces of machinery and stolen goods scattered about, sparks occasionally flying, wires dangling from the ceiling, and what appeared to be a liquid dripping from the ceiling and hitting the ground.

What look like robots are most dead, just one which seems to crawling as it have its broken legs, moving to direction opposite of their ship
