I originally had this setup in the old wiki but due the transfer, I ended up scraping it for some time.

120-150 PowerStars = GrandStar

Alright, This is going to be more brief then what I had originally wrote.

Super Mario 64.
The Giant star at the end of 64 is a GrandStar. In the SMG1 intro Story book, there's a page explaining that during the Star festival, Toads would collect power stars falling from the sky. One of these pages shows that the Toads are carrying what is obviously a GrandStar back to the castle. The Star festival happens every 100 Hundred years.

With the Storybook intro in Galaxy, this explains why the Castle has power stars to begin with. With the GrandStar being carried away by the Toads, this explains what the final star Bowser had in 64 was. It was a GrandStar.
Throughout 64, Mario has been gaining Power stars and increasing his own strength for the final fight with Bowser who is in possession of the GrandStar.

There was More to this but it mostly involved Scaling, Such as Mario being Superior to a Luma but I want to save that for later.
