In Miyata's fight with Randy Boy Jr., at the very end of the fight, Miyata throws a punch that was utterly silent, only for it to create a loud noise after the punch had already finished and Miyata's hand had moved away from Randy's head.
Itagaki states that the sound only rang out after the punch had been completed, and Sendo goes out of his way to say that Miyata had broken the sound barrier. Given that the verse has characters perform subsonic feats by moving faster then the eye can track and leaving after images, this feat seems viable as it was performed by a character who is considered to be one of the fastest boxers in the manga.
It is true that other characters consistently refer to Miyata's punches as "lightspeed" in this particular fight, although this would simply appear to be exaggeration and it would be an obvious outlier.
So if this is acceptable, we could have transonic Hajime No Ippo characters.
