Just something I've been thinking lately, after playing LISA: The Painful. (Still didn't finished the Joyful)

So, here we have Rage catching in fire while he does a headbutt.
Lisafeat1111
What makes this important is that, afaic, to do so he'd need to move at Hypersonic speeds. (Mach 5,82 from what I've seen in calcs and whatsoever, although I have never found a source about it) Plug KE into that, considering the average human, and we have Small Building level Rage.

"Are you sure he did that through speed?" Pretty sure. After all, he catches in fire while charging with a flying headbutt, and he hasn't shown the capacity to control fire. Also, it is consistent with companions and semi-important characters casually dodging/reacting to gunfire, sounds, arrows and the like from melee range.

Of course, I can't base myself around a single feat, so let's talk about other stuff.

There are several techniques and some weapons that can cause explosions. I do not have screenshots atm, but I am willing to get some, and I can mention several cases (LISA wikia links may be provided, if necessary):

  • Geese Howard can cause huge explosions with his beak strikes.
  • Terry can cause small explosions with his "flying knuckle" attacks.
  • Rage can cause explosions with some of his headbutt attacks.
  • Brad's fireballs can create explosions.
  • I've never seen anyone dodge them, but firebombs and diesel firebombs create explosions.
Several other characters also cause explosions.

Again, dodging explosions is around... Hypersonic, I believe? Mach 21, although the number does vary quite a bit depending on the explosion method.

Other notable speed feats (Although they are most likely un-calcabe) are:

  • Yazan slicing so fast that blood doesn't flow.
  • From melee range, characters can dodge or at least react to Joy Mutant screams.
"Would Hypersonic and Small Building semi-important characters be canon?" Perhaps. They are superior to fodder that can already react to gunfire and stuff, as well as characters that can survive massive explosions and the like. I don't know though.

Sorry about my horrible english, or if I take some time to reply to my own thread, but my internet connection is kind of crappy and I am in a hurry, lol.

I mean everyone is Supersonic+, so the scaling to Mutants is null.

I'm not so sure either about Rage doing is through sheer speed. After all, producing fire out of thin air is borderline common in LISA.

@Saikou

Yes, but that doesn't mean that they all manipulate fire. The lack of direct fire-based moves or showings seem to indicate that. If anything, that could support a certain consistence with Hypersonic speeds.

Not really. If we have an ambiguous case, we should assume the most likely. In this case, Rage using fire like even Percy Moonson can do, is the most likely option.

However, I may have another case of speed. One of Rage's attack is stated to be Rage coming down from space. I'll try to see how it is.

Personally, I don't find Rage having Fire Manipulation being very likely (After all, unlike LISA characters who have shown the capacity to control fire, he has no move where he directly lights himself up or controls/shoots fire), but I digress.

Well, the whole "Elbow Drop from Space" would be High 8-C and High Hypersonic+

Could be an outlier.

What about the characters reacting to explosions?

Later I'm going to dig a bit in the lore, bios and attacks to see what I can get.

I think that Mach 5 is actually a bit of a lowball, considering they can dodge explosions.

In any case, their KE would be Small Building level. Even if we stuck to the Supersonic values, it'd be ridiculously close to SB level.

We preferably need some concrete calculations to scale from.

OK, I'll try a quick calc.

  • Considering Olathe is in the US, I'll consider Rage weighs 88.3 kg.
  • Olathe is, from what I've seen in the game, a really hot place. Not outlandish to assume Mach 5 friction speeds.
Now, I'll try to calc two different values: Using Mach 2 as an absolute lowball, since it is pretty much a given he can move at Supersonic speeds, and Mach 5, which is the most likely since he can catch in fire due to friction.

  • MACH 2: 88.3 x 687.2┬▓ : 2 = 20.837.431,35 joules. I may be mistaken, but that is Small Building level.
  • MACH 5: 88.3 x 1718┬▓ : 2 = 130.309.784,6 joules. Small Building level.
LISA characters should be Small Building level, even if we still kept their Supersonic values.

Okay. Can you copy the calculation to a blog post, and ask for an evaluation?
