ell, this is something that confused me when I first found it. Basically when I was doing research for Ryo Akiyama, I came across a super obscure Japan-only game called Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers In which its revealed that Ryo and Ken; prior to the events of Digimon Adventure 02 were best friends and went to the Digital World together.
Getting down to the point, the games final battle was apparently Ken Ichijouji and his partner Digimon Wormmon (with two other recruitable Digimon) vs Moon=Millenniummo, Phantomon and Skullmammon. Millenniummon himself is a very powerful reality warper. This is taken straight from the Digimon Wiki

"he quickly overcomes the DigiDestined as well as the four Digimon Sovereigns. His power was so great, the Digital World itself becomes warped and twisted"

And Moon=Millenniummon is way stronger than that, since he's the digivolved form! Though I can't find much on M=MMmon himself I was able to find this, also straight from the Digimon Wiki

"This time he opened a rift in space and time hurling himself and Ryo through it. In the process the crystal broke and he became XeedMillenniummo."

I wish I could provide scans/images of this, but I can't seem to find any, this screenshot of a walkthrough was the best I could get.

Theres also a video of the OST that shows V-Mon fighting M=MMon (the music rocks, by the way)

As for the final point, the games are considered canon and even play a major role in the Digimon Tamers anime.

Also, I believe everything I mentioned would also count for V-Mon but I'm not too sure on that.

I am not a specialist but isn't that just an outlier?

In hindsight, probably. I skimmed through the walkthrough for the game and he's only fought 1 universal threat (two if you count fighting MMmon twice). Still rather humorous to think this little guy was able to hold his own against a Universe-ending reality warper, lol.

And then, got handled by Patamon.

If I recall that game correctly Ryo and Ken beat Digimon into submission Pokémon-style in that game and have them battle for them, so it would not have just been V-mon or Wormmon fighting. Must be where Ken lerned to be the Digimon Kaiser.
