Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

I think the biggest of X/Y's many sins was excluding the starters from the list of mons that could Mega Evolve. I'm still mad that Greninjas debut game didn't give it a mega, but greedy ass Charizard got two of them because it kept begging gamefreak to save it from bottom tier hell. That and the rivals are easily the worst ones in the series, you could put a gun to my head and give me all the time in the world before the trigger was pulled and I would not be able to even come close to remembering any of their names.

I deadass forgot she could even be a rival in that game instead of just being one of the gender options. What the hell do Cario/Sarana even do in their role as a rival? Anything I can remember about her specifically comes from the anime actually making her into a character.

Which honestly I think it's really funny that Black/White and Black/White2 were some of the best games in the series and got one of the worst seasons in the anime while X/Y are some of the worst games but got one of the best seasons in the anime (Sun/Moon still numero uno both games and anime wise tho)

People always think “I forgot that even happened lol” is a valid criticism of XY. Back when XY was the newest game, it was seen as one of the biggest, best, most complete Pokemon games of the verse.

X & Y was one of my first video games outside a leapster. It was okay I liked super training and pokemon-amie. I enjoyed having four friends at the beginning of the game and I only remember some actions of three of them. Why because I only heard jokes about three of them regarding how little they do. They have one good plot point and it is the Looker plot. I don't think it's a bad game, but like it is just okay.

LOL! at the copium fanatics who tried justifying the Kalos starter megas being locked behind paid PvP, saying they'll likely be available in the paid DLC or it's only three megas in seasonal rotation but in typical fashion, the greed is doubling down with yet another paid PvP exclusive mega (possibly more) in rotation on top of the paid DLC released just barely a couple of months after Legends ZA came out (at least it explains why Mega Dimension was teased before people could even buy Legends ZA).

I bet fanatics are will assume it's just one more PvP exclusive mega or they'll be all released for everyone come Champions lol.

As many people know already, if this game didn't have the Pokémon label on it, far more people and critics would be willing to hold ZA to the similar clear standard of triple A titles/major releases (for it's price) and it wouldn't of sold that well. Instead there's barely any room for honest discussion in most of the Pokémon fandom, with sweeping generalizations that you're either a brain dead shill or a rage baiting hater when it comes to ZA.

It's kinda sweet Hoopa's love of doughnuts is fully canon (if there was any doubt) and seeing lv 100+ wild Pokémon in an official title is pretty cool but ZA is the most explicit example of brand power over product quality in the gaming industry and it doesn't bode well.

If you feel like going through a bazillion Mangas and animes and movies for a character that is from a game, go ahead.

I do not.

If you wonder why nobody works on the verse, it's because this ******* verse requires the asteroid belt to keep it's pants up and nobody agrees on literally anything. Each singular character right now is a literal project on the level of reworking an entire verse. And I've reworked entire verses before, including massive verses like Warcraft.

Now take that amount of effort, and apply it to a verse where everyone has their own way to do it.

Honestly, after 6 years of Pokemon debating, the most important thing I've learned is that if you don't do it, somebody else will do it of less quality.
 
Out of curiosity, how are Pokémon resistances treated against non-pokémon lads? Take a Lucario, for example, if another High 7-A person tries to punch them, would their attack be halved?

A good chunk of the type chart can't be verse equalized and is thus ignored for the purposes of those matches (bar for edge cases like forced type changing such as Soak), but the ones that are equalizable are currently in a a gray area as the proper multipliers for weaknesses and resists aren't established properly right now IIRC. Opponents of course are by default also just typeless, as much Pokemon humans lack a type, let alone types being a verse-specific energy over something biological.

Thanks! One other thing I notice while searching the Pokémon profiles, what High 7-A vallue do the last evolved forms scale to? Also, any reason why Charmeleon and Charizard are rated higher then other mons?
 
Should Zygarde's three forms all scale linearly based on their percentages (In other words, Zygarde 10% being Tier 3)? In Z-A all three forms can put up a fight against and can damage the player and their team, implying they're somewhat relative. I also think it would make sense for 10% to downscale given 50% and Complete already don't have a super huge difference in power iirc (can't double check the manga scans because of them being Imgur links but that's what its profile says).

Nah, even the Team Rocket trio could easily dodge all of Zygarde 10%’s attacks. Zygarde Complete Forme would be under 10x faster than them.
 
Sean already trying to immediately insult and start an argument sigh

I personally have no issue with this Death Battle sticking to Anime continuity for Ash, and establishing that the Games and such are separate.

Okay, let's all calm it down here. There's something to be said for both sides of that; Ash is an anime character but Pokemon is originally a game series.

Sean, all Jinx said was that it appears the DB video will be only using anime content. Nothing about downplaying anything going on here.
