His DF ap was blocked by Marco, his Haki defense fully tanked Marco's and Vista's attack...
In terms of haki vs ap difference against the commanders... the haki difference was greater

That's not how that works, special attacks are usually for different ratings and "simple" or base attacks are the things mentioned here

Akainu definitely used Haki, but I think Marco’s Devil Fruit having special properties that let it repel flame-based attacks was a major factor in why he could defend against that punch. I wouldn’t say that this disqualifies adding Akainu’s ability to take on several of Whitebeard’s commanders by himself to his justification.

Akainu himself says they used Haki; it is literally stated that Haki lower than someone else's Haki would make it so the abilities continue to work... That confirms he's using Haki

In all seriousness, I'm in such a hurry for this flashback to end already so we can get back to the Straw Hats that I keep forgetting that one of the main reasons we're getting it in the first place is to find out why Loki had to kill Harold. So after we get the last of the Rocks/Roger/Garp stuff, maybe Oda will finally start showing that.

The problem is you not understanding one piece... You need the fanbooks, I don't or didn't. The sources I gave before are from the op magazines where it went over the basics of one piece for beginners, it seems even with that, you still aren't understanding...

What you're saying is simply different from what's actually explained, damn it. Learn to read the arguments you're using properly.
YES, sufficiently powerful Haki can nullify Devil Fruit powers.
But NO, having Haki that is superior to someone else's does NOT mean that the weaker person's Haki suddenly becomes unable to nullify the opponent's Devil Fruit powers.And that is NOT the reason why Marco and Vista failed to damage Akainu. It's simply because their Haki was too weak.

Wait I don't get it. You think that different devil fruits need different levels of haki by default? Like, for some logias you need basic armament and for others you need advanced or something, like ain't that a bit weird for some fruits to simply have a high tolerance to haki, their counter?
The scan from Vergo versus Smoker basicaly says that, against a user of "superior haki"( as in, if your oponents haki is greater than yours), the defensive capabilities of logias are useless, what do you say to that?
