One Piece General Discussion: Elbaph

Does anyone believe Shanks is actually a deep/complex character? Like I see a few people say it from time to time and every time it confuses me because from what I've seen he's a pretty basic character
Am I just wrong?

Shanks from just the beginning of the series was already very deep and complex

You gotta think of how he started, then it starts to fall in line.

Not really imo

Ok buddy...

do y'all think kuzan is weaker after losing his leg or does his replacement leg make up for it completely

We know shanks didn't lose any strength or anything probably because of his skill

But with aokiji I think it could even be an improvement compared to his real body as he can make his ice hard enough to compete with steel swords... Tho there's disadvantages and advantages still
[Ice Saber]
An icicle sword made by blowing air onto a weed that has been torn off and thrown. Though it is made of ice, its hardness is so high that it can rival a sword.

I think Oda is setting him up to be. It's hard to say he is currently because we really don't know that much about him. Just little snippets here and there that show the different sides of his personality.

Here are some advancements I'd like to see at some point, preferably in Elbaf:
1. Luffy: Nothing needed, he's a perfect little angel, I just wish he'd use a little more AP faster. He's gonna need better physicals soon though, Blackbeard isn't letting him off the hook easy, and I feel like if he Awakens, he might be able to just take the Gum-Gum away.
2. Zoro: Honestly, he's growing pretty fast. I'd like him to work on his Haki, and to use Asura more, maybe explore what it means for him. Maybe some Black Blades at some point. I'd like it if he could talk to his other swords like he does with Enma, and that's how people do the Black Blade thing.
3. Nami: Maybe some Haki, but preferably an Ultimate Clima-Tact of some kind, or a secondary weapon to combine with it.
4. Usopp: Definitely some Observation Haki, he needs it. I'd love if he had the best in the crew, maybe some Armament. I'd also like if he got an expansion to his arsenal of gear, and more of the strategic Pop Green use he got in FMI. He needs to amp up to beat his dad.
5. Sanji: Better Haki, obviously, to put him on more even footing with the Big Z. Maybe he focuses on Observation. He's alright aside from that, though.
6. Chopper: Probably some more focus on his individual transformations' abilities, or some more fighting skill. Maybe an Awakening? Idk what he would even do. On one hand, I like the idea of this emotionless, hyperintelligent man with a dark halo of flames kind of just standing there, looking someone in the eye, then stabbing his hand through them. On the other, I like the idea that some dude just pops out holding a beer and goes 'ey, wassup, I'm Tony.'
7. Robin: More focus on her Fishman Karate, maybe through training with Jinbe, maybe some Haki or Rokushiki, or that clone thing she does sometimes? Awakening could work too, imagine she turns things into flesh and does that thing Shigaraki does with the arms in MHA. She's meeting Saul soon, this is her arc too.
8. Franky: We're fighting giants, we need Kaijuu Crusher: Elite General Franky. Him and Lillith can build it together.
9. Brook: Obviously Armament Haki and Awakening are both on the table for this guy, he's got a lot going for him. Maybe he could find more ways to apply his powers in combat as well, maybe constructs or something. He does seem to have improved his cold abilities a lot.
10. Jinbe: Literally only needs better Haki, he's perfect otherwise.
11. Hajrudin: Broken record, but he needs to up his Haki game too. I mean, this is the giant arc, he lives here. I'd say he should have Intermediate Observation and Armament, and maybe even Initial Conquerer's.
12. Urouge and Enel: These guys should show up soon I think. Just like how I think Kaidou and BM will due to their connections, I think Enel, being a lightning god with an attack called 'El Thor' who fought a land worshipping a giant snake, should re-appear. Urouge is gonna have to whip it out, and by it, I mean his power.
13. Bonney: Haki.
14. Koby and his crew: Obviously. I don't have to explain this.
15. Kuma: This is a reverse power-up. He's gonna die. Someone will eat his DF.

I was reading horny posts about Boa Sandersonia, and it reminded me: Katakuri got his mouth scars because he ate too much. He didn't cut up his food before eating and his mouth ripped open. If they were aware if that, fhose kids were fully justified in bullying him.

What...? So a kid making a mistake or causing an accident while enjoying something is justified to bully them? Then bully every kid. The kid is then over fully justified to bully back the bully 😴

How.. How are those two things related
There was a comment about how a writer like Oda can tell you about a character's story through their design. One of Katakuri's little sisters has the same scars as him. We learn in 902 that Big Mom is particularly demeaning to her children, or at least Pudding, and people are encouraged to cover up their imperfections. We know at least some of the kids grew up being treated like shit for looking different. Charlotte Poire does not cover her face. Chapter 902 shows this.

Similarly, Boa, Sandersonia, and Marigold are shaped by circumstances. Boa's ideal of beauty being used as a weapon is a reversion of it being used against her when she was young. The other two have a more non-conventional appearance. They've become who they, personally, want to be, as has everyone on Amazon Lily. Boa runs an island where someone can be who they want with no judgement, and can be free.

This also mirrors Ivankov, but Ivankov is a far nicer figure, and does not rule with the same iron fist. I think the dynamic with Boa, who is, again, similar to Katakuri, is that she projects strength she doesn't necessarily desire to protect herself and others from pain that was inflicted on her and her family.

I am, of course, joking. He didn't deserve that, and was justified in beating the shit out of them.

902 is a good-ass chapter btw. Some of the best emotional stuff from Sanji, Katakuri, Pudding, Brûlee, Carrot, and even a nice moment with Zeff. The cover with the swapped-outfit MCs is good too, Luffy as Deku is goated. There's a color spread too, and it ain't bad.

Luffy is in Deku's outfit on the cover, and Deku's a Haikyuu character, while someone else(maybe Asta? I don't remember) is dressed as Luffy. I was simply saying Luffy would do some cool shit with OFA(probably not that different from what Deku has done tbh).
