Now that I think about it, space pirates might be related to civilizations from 900 years ago or further back, where the technology was so advanced that they could achieve space travel. Maybe they went out to gather resources/escape the war and never went back down??

Also Vegapunk aiming to have enough of energy to create a sun ambitious. Maybe that's what seraphim flames are? The flames of the soul, the 'eternal flame' that was mentioned.
