Non-Copyrighted/Public Domain characters

So I was wondering if characters who don't have copyright owners, for example AI characters like Tung Tung Tung Sahur (Don't ask), who as an AI made character can't be copyrighted, can these characters have pages made off versions made for stuff like mobile games?

I feel like they would be in the same boat as someone like Blood and Honey Winnie, who is a no longer copyrighted aka public domain version of Winnie, and therefor a non-Disney version got a profile.

So I want to see if it would be the same for characters who didn't have a copyright to begin with

I don't think this type of character would meet the requirements to be accepted as a vs battle profile, they may have a better chance to be accepted on the OC wiki.

All precedents indeed point towards characters within public domain not requiring official approval from their original creator(s) for their usage, as to be allowed to be indexed on the wiki. Additionally there isn't any rule currently banning AI generated works on the wiki, so as far policies go they should be fine at present.

Personally, I’d say we shouldn’t allow profiles based on AI-generated works, as one of the most important things to consider when making a profile is authorial intent, and if there isn’t a conscious author that actively makes decisions for the fictional world in-question and instead an algorithm just trying to mimic human speech without worrying about consistency or accuracy, then I’d say it shouldn’t be allowed on the site.
