The Quincy Medallion's Plundering Ability
The Medallion possessed by members of the Wandenreich military allows them to "medalize" and steal a Shinigami's Bankai through a powerful plundering technique. When activated near a released Bankai, the Medallion emits dark energy streams that disintegrate and absorb the Bankai into itself.
This stripped the Shinigami of their Bankai capabilities and severs communication with their Zanpakutō spirit. Crucially, the Medallion does not just steal the Bankai form, but the being that lives inside the inner world, the manifestation the soul of the Zanpakutō - which is an extension of the Shinigami's own soul.
