Marvel Character Speeds

It's fine man. It came out to 7.57c, I just said twice because it's roughly that.

Looks alright, although you should put "at least" since it was less than a nanosecond

Mmm. Well that's fair enough to have. I mean while it's still FTL, it's a definite that it's on the high end of it. That's has to be good, i guess.

Alright I guess I'll add that in now.

EDIT: Should "potentially FTL+ (comparable to Thor)" be added? I'll just add "at least FTL" for now though.

Given how much Spider-Man has consistently strained to support the Daily Bugle and similar weights, and that the narrative gave no signs of power output when launching himself at the Hulk, I think that it seems most reliable to keep him at Large Building level.

Fiction, including Marvel, recurrently does not care about kinetic energy relative to speed. Othervise Quicksilver could easily take down either the Hulk or Thor in a single blow.

I have been an occasional lurker on this particular Wikia and its Forums. But due to some misleading posts being made here without being corrected, I decided to make an account here to address the problem as I consider such misleading(IMO) calculations being used to gauge various attributes of fictional characters goes against the very nature of this Wikia and what it stands for.

This calculation( http://www.narutoforums.com/blog.php?b=18748 ) is apparently not acceptable because the person who calculated is either discounting the context behind that particular feat along with the theme of that storyline or outright lying, most probably the former unless he has known history of downplaying other characters of various comics/manga.

I would recommend people to read that particular storyline first and then make an argument for thor's/mjolnir's speed as shown in those panels and refrain from taking random calculation at face value without understanding the context or the theme behind that particular storyline.

Google Searching for those scans I came across this post on Kanzenshuu.

The following is copy paste from that particular post:

The detailed scans which show thor threw mjolnir around galaxy and the context behind those thor fan edited scans. It was classic donald blake thor who depended on mjolnir.

The context is thor is trying to rid himself of mjolnir, he throws the mjolnir so it wont return. he is basically trying to rid himself and cursing his father odin in the process.

1

thor becomes suicidal.

2

The following scan is very important as it explains mjolnir will take some time to travel galaxy before it reaches him which is more than enough for him to commit suicide and if thor is separated from mjolnir for than sixty seconds he will turn into donald blake and die in the process. he is trying to commit suicide and but odin wont allow.

3

Fan edited thor scan.how thor fan have edited the panel. the edited panel which shows the mjolnir returning but removes the context behind it and what follows after. The above calculation is also using the same image.

Is this a Fan Edited Scan?

thor is scared of death. odin had to return the hammer so thor doesnt end up committing suicide.you see in the scan the mjolnir coming back to save thor.

4

thor is so scared of death that he clings onto what he despises the most. mjolnir returns so thor is saved.

5

thor blaming odin is behind saving thor every time he wants to commits suicide by ridding himself of mjolnir.

6

odin himself saying he kept death at bay from thor mortal frame and hopes he has learnt his lesson.

7

end.

The premise behind the above feat is that thor is suicidal so he throws the mjolnir and tries to commit suicide but as soon as he turns into Blake, thor is afraid to die and mjolnir instead of following its original trajectory set by thor, returns back to save thor on the orders of Odin. The mjolnir never completes the original journey set by thor.

So either the above post is wrong or the calculation is wrong. People here should actually read the comics first before accepting random calculation.

Iirc, that feat was ignored. Thor's FTL reflexes is from him blocking out the Living Laser.

On what page within this wiki is that calculation listed and accepted, and why do you post it here, rather than making a new topic about the issue?

1. We don't use that scan for justification on any of Thor's stats so yeah

2. It's not edited it just leaves out context

3. All the final bit implies is that Odin returned Mjolinir faster than Mjolinir could return itself, or maybe you are right and he stops it and returns it. Either way, Thor was absolutely confident he could through Mjolinir fast enough to reach the edge of the galaxy, which, by his own word, he did.

The statement isn't "I have thrown Mjolinir towards the edges of the galaxy, it will take some time to reach there and return." the statement is "I have thrown Mjolinir to the edges of the galaxy, it will take some time to return."

What the scan shows is that Thor's throwing speed > Mjolinir's travel speed, and Odin just returned Mjolinir to him by either A. speeding it up or B. teleporting it.

We cannot use the speed of Mjolnir after it leaves Thor's hand as a scale for his combat speed. It travels faster than light and is driven by magic, so kinetic energy is inapplicable. We need explicit movement speed feats for Thor to rate him higher.

Anyway, this topic seems to be concluded, so I will close it now.
