It will break the said place and while it will be restored, since there are info that's spilled, it'll change reality within the area. There is also a thing called "possession", which the info of the object will be completely rewritten, turning it to another object, such as turning metal into gold.

Has the forcefield defended against something like this?

I'm pretty sure Marios forcefield only defends against physical attacks, Sols passives shouldn't be stopped by it.
