Luke fon Fabre vs. Lucius the Eternal

It could, and considering the guy doesn't look like a warp person, it could actually be fair. :D

What stops Lucius from just whipping?

That triggers possession though.

Right, this is the guy with the whole "if you feel any enjoyment from killing me you become me" thing, right? Kinda doubt Luke has a wincon here then.

Yeah, even without wanking it to tier 1 Luke doesn't really seem to have a way to stop that.

Luke doesn't have any satisfaction in killing tho. Him taking any pleasure in killing goes completely against his character

Satisfaction is broad as ****. Even being like "oh I don't have to fight this guy anymore neat" is enough. A dude who never even knew Lucius existed got possessed once, in one of the silliest examples.

There's also Lucius's screams, which are AP.

To be fair, Luke outright hates killing, doing so for the first time left him in utter shock, however he still does so when necessary.

If he hates killing, why is he going for atomization off the bat?

Also, what even is hyperresonance? It's not really explained in abilities and techniques, can it be dodged? DOes it have travel time?

He kills when necessary, such as in a fight to the death, but he does dislike killing, Hyperresonanance is a go to attack for Luke in character.

It doesn't really seem to have travel time, it just seems to affect the targeted thing that is in his range.

But if he hates killing, does it not make more sense for him to start off with incap methods? SBA making characters kill if need be doesn't mean they won't go for incap over killing if they're more predisposed to doing so. Also, hating killing in a way would breed some sort of satisfaction, as the action is over and they can feel better that they don't have to kill anymore. Even just being glad to be alive has triggered it.

Also Lucius can just scream and kill him via AP, due to starting at range.

@Wokistan he does whatever he needs to survive. Hyperresonance has been one of his most go to moves throughout the entire game. Even when the fight is over Luke has some sad reaction to killing a person. Even when a good chunk of the game passed, one of his friends pointed out how whenever he killed bandits or Oracle knights he'd be terrified and unable to sleep for taking someone's life.

Not gonna lie, Lucius' weakness on that possession is just fancy fluff that has no meaning... but at the same time is there any other time where it was contradicted?

"Only people who takes satisfaction in killing him would be possessed"

I think someone already argued about the concept of how the mine creator was satisfied with his work and thus able to end up possessed, but at this point you're gonna end up arguing about linguistics and wording itself. That's where it's gonna fall.

That's said I'm pretty sure too that "I hate killing" and "I'll be satisfied after killing someone" are pretty distinct things. Most of then than not people who kill wouldn't want to kill ever again irl. That can be applicable to fiction. So yeah I really doubt the semantics of that.

Now scream AP and stuff, that I can get behind.

Leaning for Lucius if Luke has a wincon.

He doesn't go for incap, never has, hating killing doesn't mean he won't do it, especially not Endgame Luke, it just means he doesn't enjoy doing so, he kills a bunch of people in the game, though yeah, if being relieved that a fight is over is enough to trigger it then it most certainly will be triggered.

I don't have reason to believe that Lucius' possession can affect Luke and if there's a range gap and atomization... voting Luke FRA

Basically the entire point of his ability in Canon is messing with language semantics lol. I can do more of that tomorrow.

That range is legit contradicted by stuff already on the profile...

GG Lucius page, top quality. The file already lists the scream as a property of his armor.

Can it nullify someone just yelling with High 5-A force? It's AP.

Also do you have a clip of the hyper resonance because idk if I'm searching wrong or something but I couldn't find it

Just to be clear I'm pretty sure his possession isn't Tier 1 and the reason why the factory worker was possessed was because he was happy he was able to provide for his family when he made the explosive. Lucius is an asshole. So if Luke is relived that his opponent is dead or something like that I'm afraid it'd be over.

Again, he wouldn't feel any satisfaction in killing a living thing. That goes completely against his character

I mean, that looks like it takes long enough to start that Lucius can just lunge forward with the whip or just use the scream to interrupt it. It also looks like it only affects stuff right next to him.

It can affect things for a pretty wide distance, it was stated as capable of annihilating the entire atmosphere for example. Also he has done it quicker in some other instances.

It doesn't even need to be any kind of satisfaction. A Necron got possessed because he felt "cold pride", literally all you need to do is feel any kind of positive emotion after you had killed him and he will possess you. Pretty sure the time doesn't matter either.

First post crash comment?

Like, if you ever feel any positive emotion after killing him he possesses you? Or only in regards to killing him? As stated above, Luke gains no enjoyment from killing, he only does so when forced to and regrets killing deeply.

Slightly off topic, but Lucius' ability seems like something that could get extremely blown out of proportion.

Also, what the hell just happened?

Luke hates killing yeah, but the broadness of Lucius's ability is really dumb. He's known to say really messed up things to people mid fight (Being of Slaanesh and all, he's very good at this) to goad them into feeling better that he died, even if its just a "glad I don't have to deal with that" or "glad I'm alive" or "at least he's stopped" type thing.

Also, why would he immediately **** up the atmosphere if he's supposedly a pacifist? Hell him using this as a starter at all seems to seriously contradict his character. Must not be too principled. Is there a clip of it going beyond just melee range? It didn't seem like something that can't be dodged, from that clip.

He wouldn't **** up the atmosphere, that's just the potential range of the ability, also it works differently in cutscenes than gameplay.

He once possessed someone who had no idea Lucius even existed because he was happy for completely unrelated reasons. It's quite dumb.

If it's that potent, then this is outright a stomp. Basically, him being able to possess Luke decides if this is a stomp or not, as if he can, Luke has no wincon.

The full scene went something like this:

Landmine killed Lucius

That land mine was partly made by a factory worker who just happened to be feeling happy that he was providing for his family

Slaanesh considers this good enough I guess and sticks Lucius there

I read that scene and was just like "wtf".

He doesn't need to feel satisfaction towards killing him. Just a positive emotion after having him die. Does Luke not have incap method?

So what are the other things that Lucius possessed aside from a guy who's visibly happy that his item is going to be able to kill someone?

If Lucius can always keep possessing the enemy no matter what mood a person is feeling, you might as well have a repeat of Thunder McQueen except it's under an unfair no-win situation.
