It does. He fought with opponents stronger/with more mana than yami whom could do the same thing it's not like it was the first time he saw a character with so much power

Generally supernatural stuff like magic or psychic powers ignore scientific aspects and tend to focus more on affecting the metaphysical aspect of mind.
 
Bumping this up too, and I agree. We really have to be stricter in the distinction between like fear inducement via power levels (shonen) and actual fear haxx that ignores power levels
