Light is a different kind of genius compared to Walter, he is a better planner who would deduce Heisenberg's identity more easily and take him out with the death note, which walt has never dealt with anything comparable before.

yeah, the deathnote itself is actually part of the reason I set up the battle the way I did. In character, I tried to set it up such that Light would kill walt with the deathnote as a sort of last case scenario. If he's in character, then his goal is to first incarcerate Walt as L, then kill him with the deathnote as KIRA once he's in prison

I imagine they both set up a final stand off (like with Light and Near) with Light having Mikami or Misa ready to write down their names while Walter also has his M16 machine gun ready somewhere as well. These two stacking plans on top of more plans would be the best thing ever.
