ALTERNATE TITLE: A FIRST SON'S DEATH, A FATHER'S LOSS

Man, I've had this in my sandbox for a while. Even after my sudden surge of versus writings, I didn't even manage to finish it. Oh well, here it is. Honestly after making and writing for it, this is a really cool MU which I hope won't be ruined by the debate.
● ------------------------------------- ●
"Last chance, are you absolutely certain about this?" Hayabusa asked before handing a jug of coffee to his partner.
"We gotta start somewhere. Don't worry about me and worry about your part," Keith replied, shrugging off the paranormal detective's concerns.

Having learned more of Malak's methods, they were lucky to find a minion of his still intact in the mortal world, in Keith's world as well. Combined with recent development on safe procedures to explore the Mansion, and there was little worry in performing the first proper interaction. All the paperwork was signed and ready and the officer was even briefed on his superior's experiences with similar killers. By all means, there was no drawback to this besides the pain and terror of death. However, it had been a while since Keith had pushed himself past the fear of death, having gained a reason to live all those years ago when he won his wife back.

It was the growing threat of something bigger than he could possibly imagine that weighed on him, enough to push him to this point.

"Detective Bailey?" Keith asked, surprising the man in the office enough to turn around faster than his usual calm pace.
"Ah, Officer Baring! What brings you here to my office?" Wayne asked, walking away from his desk as he did.

"There's not much to do tonight. We're the only ones here at the office at the hour. Coffee?" the officer placed down a jug of freshly brewed coffee as he said that, pushing away the phone that laid out of its place.
"That's a silly question. Give it here! Your work's finished, huh? Got nothing to do but chat? I can oblige," the detective replied, pouring it into a nearby mug.

"You got a son, right? Well, had. Your only one, right?" It felt wrong hearing this wolf in sheep's clothing mention his son, even if not by name or with any familiarity. Considering Wayne's secret life, he almost wondered if this was done to taunt him. Still, Keith had recovered enough to just smile and go along to continue this conversation.

"That's right. Helena and I have no plans on another for now," Keith answered, earning a chuckle from his co-worker.
"Heh, don't bother if you don't wanna. It's not the same. There's a very special bond between a father and his first son, one I try to honor even after his passing," Wayne explained before noticing the officer's hand in his holster.

"Come on now, I'm spilling my heart out. Could you put your gun away or so help me?" With no other way to get him somewhere better, Keith sighed before unholstering his handgun and pointing it at Wayne. As he walked closer, he slammed the telephone back in its place, severing communication.

"Now wait just a moment. You don't wanna do this..." Wayne reasoned with his hands in the air. Just then the lights began flickering, prompting Keith to immediately fire his gun. When the lights returned to its functioning shape, his target was no more with not even any blood in the office. As he thought of his next move, a voice could be heard from the telephone, even as it was in a cut off state. The officer backed up to a wall that only faced outside and wasn't near any windows before listening on to the voice. On his way he saw the desk's contents, holding some black robes and a shotgun.

"Not a bad play, officer~ Y'know the plan was for the two little slashers kids of his to cut the power when he says a code word or something but your little friend got to the telephone lines first so here I am to cover for him. Y'know what, just for that, I'm gonna take him. The question is, will you be coming along?" Malak said, his voice as clear as if he were in the room himself, even as it originated from a frankly outdated telephone.

"For a man who reacts with such indifference towards the classics, it sure is endearing to see him be saved by it. Tell me officer, what usually happens when a slasher disappears from your sight? Wait, hold that thought." A moment of silence ensued as an overwhelming presence could be felt in the room. Even as Keith eyed every inch of the place, he couldn't see anything or anyone causing the discomforting feeling he couldn't shake off.

"Are you backed up to a corner with no nearby windows in a primarily concrete building?" Malak asked.
"Second floor too," Keith replied.

"Daddy it's like Team Fortress 2," a childish voice commented.
"Agatha, not now. Daddy is very busy," the demon replied before clearing his throat.

"Well, I suggest you don't stand there too long. If I were to give you a hint, I'll say that he's getting away. Do try to keep up and... put on a show."
