The Dimension Sword, despite never making contact with any target, slices through practically everything through strange cuts in space. These phantom blades cannot be made out of air, because their battle took place in Hell, and the blades were pink; and, they cannot be made out of energy, because Janemba is never shown channeling energy into the sword, and they can cut through his weird, reality altering jellybean constructs, which have been stated and shown to absorb energy, thus nullifying damage from energy attacks.
Janemba can already create portals to "outside dimensions" with ease. His Dimension Sword cutting through space is not too far-fetched.
