Is Disney's Star Wars Canon?

If so, why when a lot of stuff by companies that own properties aren't considered canon when they branch off into sequels that go beyond what the Original Author intemded? In regards to the wiki, whose canocity takes precedence, the Author or the Company that own the IP that the Author is writing such as in thr case of GL and Disney and can this situation be applied to other situations like Ridley Scott and the Alien Franchise or Kishi and Naruto franchise, etc?

The reason i bring this up is because on several occasions GL has stated there is no Episode 7 and anything subsequently after, after Epsode 6 despite the fact he likes the new Star wars Movies. Or does this just mean that tjere are always 2 canons:

  • The version the Author writes and intends to be his original version
  • The version the owners of the IP endorse
This would either call for an addition of extra pages or edits to current characters in verses having this snag. Or do we simply ignore the owners?

Star Wars canon works like this:

Originally, the EU was a massive expansion of the six movies, but when Disney bought the company, everything besides the movies and The Clone Wars was relegated to its own continuity, Legends. The movies, TCW and whatever they produce after that (Such as Rebels) are part of the Disney Canon.

Also, George Lucas doesn't do anything with Star Wars anymore and he sold the rights to Disney, so him saying there's "no Episode VII" (Which I don't recall him saying) doesn't mean anything.

So, basically, Disney's Canon is overall separate from George's Canon.
