Incorporating Writers into Versus Debates?!

I've heard many people state that in a versus debate, it's all up to who the writers want to win, or which universe the fight takes place. But how do I clarify that using "the writer" or "character universe" is a poor way to argue a winner in any debate on two characters from different versus?

Bonus Question: Is the argument of saying that the winner of a versus battle depends on the universe or writer a logical fallacy?

I think it's more thinking Versus Debates as crossover and not as comparison.

So you're saying they believe it to be a crossover idea instead of a comparison of the two? That makes sense.

Yes, their argument are like a "the writer can decide who win the fight, no matter the lvl, it's the plot", it make me think about things like the Toriko x One Piece x Dragon Ball crossover.

Oh yeah, I was telling my friends "Goku stomps them. Easily."
