Because sometimes, the context is even wierder. For example, there's a character in Azure Striker Gunvolt. These are a few discussions some characters have about them. Also, if you don't want to be spoiled about this, probably don't click to the verse page or look up the characters.

GV: Hey, by the way... just what kind of Adept am I up against here?

Moniqa: A powerful adversary... we don't have much data though. Even Zonda's sex is indistinct.

GV: ...Indistinct?

Moniqa: Whether Zonda is a man or a woman seems to change with the day. Perhaps this is part of what makes Zonda's Septima.

GV: I... don't get it.

Then, you actually meet Zonda themselves.

Zonda: Oh my, what a charming young man you are.

GV: I take it you're Zonda?

Zonda: Hehehe, that makes me happy... the fact that you know my beautiful name... I really feel the love! So, shall we begin this lovely adventure? Let's show some love til our hearts' content, OK?!

By the way, that's even wierder in the English Version, but I can't find it. Then you get this charming piece of diologue.

GV: Another wire mechanism...

Zonda: It must be the string of Love! That way, you can just wrap me in that wire there, right?! Therefore, it's Love!

GV: ......

Alright then. Nobody knows what their gender is and they have a bondage fetish. Good description of most Tumblur users. And now this.

Copen: You monster... go and meet your maker.

Zonda: It can't be... my Love... in a place like this... aah... but... this pain... it's... yes... death too is... love... -ly...

Oh. Pain and Death fetish. Lovely indeed. And then Zonda dies, right? Wrong. They come back in the next game.

Copen: I don't know you. Adept. Now hand Mytyl over. I might even let you off easy.

?????: But you do know me. Just perhaps not in this form... Behold, my true love!

<< A mirror appears, overtaking the female Adept as it spins and revealing Male Zonda in her place >>>

Male Zonda: The love of Zonda takes many forms and envelops all! It is the ultimate physical embodiment of ardor!

Alright then. We already knew the gender thing was wierd, I guess that's just another fetish on the list. And then we get to the conclusion of the intro stage aaaand,

Zonda was actually a pre-teen girl this entire time.

More so things that make even less sense in context then out, though unexpected twists that are just absolutely bizarre count as well.
