The Earwig Creature isn't exactly new to fighting people with firearms and it has a big speed advantage, so it should be more than capable of closing the distance like it did with the Inn owner and decapitate the salesman

Derek's best chance is the Toilet Grenade, but if he doesn't open with that (which I doubt he would given that he thinks he's fighting some weird moving 30 year old man), then I don't think Derek's winning this
