I don't think the virus affects animals the way it does with humans, since there never was any real mention of the virus being able to infect animals.

There's a clear lack of evidence in-game that animals can be infected by the virus. In some of the maps, birds and dogs can be heard in the background, and the official L4D wikia gives a theory that some of the animals may only carry the virus without actually being affected by it, so I'd say the virus would not affect Sabor.
