How was goku able to to briefly overwhelm fusion Zamasu

If you watch the beam struggle Goku had a much smaller beam meaning the area of contact was really small making it easy for him to pierce through it, further proved by how Goku cut through the other attack and not launched it back. Same rule applies as to way a bullet can pierce your body while something much larger that going at the same speed cant. Also if you notice Goku broke both his arms doing meaning that his power far exceeded his durability.
Finally the kicks Goku launched at Zamasu didn't harm whatsoever, further proved by how Zamasu casually caught and broke his leg, and only the Kaioken actually did any damage to him.
