How do we treath characters with several builds?

We have to specify what build are we using or we just do a weird composite and every build is used. because i have seen characters with diferent builds and most of them dont specify like terrarian,and most MMO characters

PD: i am refering to builds like ranger, melee, mage

I believe a build can be specified for characters, as a pseudo-composite of skills is (for the most part) not possible by the game's standards, be it due to restrictions on inventory or level caps.

If a character has dozens of weapons they can use but can only carry and use a few at a time then it's good to specify which equipment you intend to use there as well.
