The year was 2012. I was in my early teens at the time, and boy what great time to be an early teen it was. Internet memes were taking off. The golden age of movies and video games was upon us. I had gotten around to buying inFAMOUS 2 cause I played a Demon Target and thought it was pretty neat. Keep in mind I never played inFAMOUS 1 except for that one Demon at GameStop 3 years ago.
Needless to say, I thought it sucked. I didn't get any of the references or understand any of the lore. I was also pretty bad at the game in general. There was this certain mission I couldn't pass, so I dropped the game for like a year.
A year later, I decided to give the game another try. This time, something clicked with me, and I beat the game in like 2 days with the Good Karma ending. Felt pretty underwhelmed at the game overall and decided to drop it again
A month later, I found myself at GameStop, where they had inFAMOUS 1 on sale. Out of curiosity and a vague obligation to complete the series, I bought it for like $13, went home, and popped the disk into my beat up PS3.
I've been in love with the series ever since. The comic book aesthetics, lore and plot twists pulled me in. I even gave the second game a try, and now armed with a better understanding of the series and an appreciation for the characters and plot, I became a bit of a fanboy.
So when I discovered the heated fued between inFAMOUS and [PROTOTYPE] that was going on at the time, you better believe I got involved.
However, at the time, it was basically universally accepted that Alex Mercer stomps Cole MacGrath because "he survived a nuke" and "he handled bigger threats, Cole can be killed by machine gun fire." For awhile, even I believe Cole was just a slightly above average superhuman.
But part of me didn't want to believe that, so I hit the web searching for anything that could put Cole at a higher level. Eventually, I found myself looking over a respect thread on killermovies that claimed Cole's lightning storm put out more heat than a supernova. It turned out that the thread was made by a user on this very site (you know who you are :>) While looking for more info on this claim, I eventually found the users VSB profile (they used the same name as on killermovies, but they changed it overtime), and by extension, VSB.
I mostly lurked around the site without making an account, only looking at Cole's page, and was surprised that some people put him at Building level. Even I thought that was strange, but I was glad I saw it.
I didn't want to join the site at first because I was a bit nervous about arguing that Cole should be more powerful than he was at the time (I had found a few feats that would've put him at Large Building level), but eventually I worked up the never to join and made my case for Large Building level Cole. And then worked my way from their. Now, we've got the god tiers of inFAMOUS at Multi-Continental for Future Beast's feat of breaking the moon into a radial third.
Eventually I leaked into other verses, Berserk, Fist of the North Star, Invincible, Friday the 13th, Luther Strode, Marvel, etc, but it was my love for inFAMOUS that got me on this wiki.
So, yeah, that's my story.
