Halo General Discussion Thread

I wrote on his message wall here, but I basically agree. Forerunners and Precursors I believe were given a lot of out of context abilities that seems to consist of people taking metaphorical statements literally. And/or, reading the books are simply talking about Forerunners being scientists who study concepts such as "Causality", "Vectors," or "Dimensions" or look at blue prints and projections of slipspace paths and map systems. Neither them nor their technology have ability to manipulate higher dimensions, vectors, "Causality" or "Probability." They also have computers that calculate probability that they can use to come up with strategies, similar to what Dr Ichigaki from Yu Yu Hakusho or Terminator can do, but they do NOT possess probability manipulation as a superpower like someone like Black Cat does. As for manipulating vectors or so called "Higher-Dimensions," as far as what they actually manipulate using their technology, it's mainly just the portals and the pocket reality being manipulated or closing other machines access to said portals and pocket reality. Which would also be computer hacking too. "Seeing all possible futures" isn't really precognition per say, it's just alternate future display where they have technologies where then can potentially look at an infinite number of alternate futures. But they cannot look at all of them all at once, or mentally comprehend them all at once, or predict which one is the most likely. And is thus, not combat applicable short term or during the heat of battle.

Thank you for your reply.

So would the two of us accepting a revision based on this suggestion be sufficient to apply it? 🙏

Something I've noticed, we have the Didact at potentially being able to destroy the Infinity because of Reqiuem's gravity well, but we don't mention the equipment that allowed them to SEND THE PLANET INTO THE SUN.

I missed the 60 rounds AR in the original and the remake seems to have 32 round in here.

Either way, until it is fully released, we got a demo for the remake at least.

Edit: Also withholding judgement till the game is officially released

Thank you for your reply.

Would somebody here be willing and able to properly apply that revision? 🙏

Actually... This may rip the band-aid out hard but... Looking at even some of the absolute weakest demons from classic DOOM series... Including Imps and especially Lost Souls... Does not look like he stands a chance against a single one. I don't just look at tiers, but also powers, abilities, hax, ect. And that's the point, even the weakest demon in DOOM hax stomps Master Chief by the looks of it.

While I do not remember every detail, and I do notice some things that were agreed to be edited are heavily outdated. Firestorm mainly focused on fixing Doomguy's profile but there are plenty of DOOM characters where as of Dark Ages, should be upgraded to High 3-A. But still looking at classic era enemies. I recall it being agreed all demons possess some kind of Immortality types 2, 4, and 7 iirc. As well as demons being intangible and/or incorporeal where Doomguy is able to harm them due to him and Hell energy enhanced weapons having Non Physical interaction. Or of those were removed. However, all demons from DOOM also possess some kind of passive hax that causes areas around them to turn into Hellish as well as Essense manipulation. It's similar to Reiatsu Crush from Bleach. Something Doomguy resists naturally, but no one from Halo has demonstrated a resistance to anything of that nature

They don't stomp us THAT hard lol. Only Titans and Hell Guards have Type 4, so Master Chief should just be able to kill almost anything like normal. Pretty much the only thing that has been "incorporeal" has been the soul inside the Gladiator's shield, which would die anyway if the Gladiator did. Also, it would take literally a full-scale invasion of Earth for the Essence Manipulation to even come into play in VS, since even the invasion of Phobos in 2016 didn't demonize much of anything. Even if it did come into play, Chief's suit should resist this and the Genesong, coincidentally, also protects his own 'essence".

No offense, but it literally sounds like you don't even follow DOOM lore. But, "Essense Manipulation" in DOOM literally is a lot of OP stuff. While it is by no means anything compared to SMT's Cognitive Physiology, it's still Conceptual Manipulation Type 2 + Soul + Mind Manipulation + a whole bunch of other things. Like there are literally a lot of things added there.

More importantly, "Essence" does NOT mean same thing in Halo as it does in DOOM. Just because verses use common terminologies doesn't mean it's the same thing for every verse. DOOM got an entire blog explaining exactly what Essence is based on in game lore. In Halo, the word "Essence" is just a generic term for "Someone's memories being stored as digital data" and that's it. There is no soul manipulation or magical ability to erase the very concept of someone's existence in Halo.

I actually didn't know that page existed. It still shouldn't happen in the timeframe of a VS match, though.

It also isn't just their memories, since it's meant to actually be them as data. That's why Dr. Tillson kept remembering who she was after she became a Promethean Knight.

That's what I meant, it's their memories and thinking process or mind. And sometimes their conscious; though some humans transform can have memories altered and programmed to serve the Forerunners like mindless drones due to Composer. But my main point(s) remain.

Edit: The point wasn't demons being in hell as a SBA, the point was all demons in doom lore have a passive hax where a Hellish aura is being generated around their body even if just one demon. Which in turn is like a surrounding aura that acts like an omnidirectional vacuum that pulls souls out of the body. And non supernaturally enhanced weapons cannot bypass the invulnerability hax.

It's still not gonna matter to most MUs since SBA means they're not even in Hell and unless it's an invasion it's gonna be like one demon. Even if we were generous to the demon and say Master Chief had a year to kill a Marauder he would obviously do it.

I’d actually like to hear your reasoning on why.
When I said that I had assumed the Marauder had been upgraded to downscale from our Doomslayer ratings since its the only demon that consistently can actually give him a fight and not get instantly slaughtered as shown by the fact that it can actually catch his punches during Glory Kills whereas everyone else gets shit stomped during them. I have no idea why these assholes are still only 8-C on the profiles.

Firestorm was a bit slow at updating pages/scaling other than Doom Guy. As of Doom: The Dark Ages, Titans should be upgraded to High 3-A scaling from Dreadmace, and there are plenty of bosses that probably shouldn't be too far below, with Maraders being an especial case. Atlans also apparently meet criteria for High 3-A scaling iirc given they are on par with smaller Titans at least.

Me personally, considering the fact that we're shown just how rapidly Doom Slayer grows in power even in the same game in The Dark Ages where he goes from weaker than amped Ahzrak's base form, eventually starts actually pressuring him and forcing him to transform, gets stomped by Ahzrak's transformed state and then flips it back around to stomping him, the fact that Marauders God knows how long after TDA Eternal takes place can actually fight Doom Eternal Slayer and catch punches from him is ******* nuts.

I mean like the first boss in the game can "not get instantly slaughtered" by Doomguy but that doesn't mean he's 1-C.

Heartwarming: vs debater first discovers character getting serious

Genuinely where did the whole meme of Spartan-IVs being useless even come from? I couldn't count on 2 hands all the Spartan-IVs that were useful so far (Fireteam Crimson, Fireteam Majestic, Fireteam Osiris, Sarah Palmer by default), is this just a comic thing?

Just finished Halo 5.

**** that was so awful. Worst story, worst gameplay, worst music, worst character moments, worst ad campaign. I thought I had half a game left but it just ends and they leave the comics to finish Cortana’s whole story? AND all the online modes are dead? No wonder I got this game for like $3.

I don’t even want to make the CRT anymore. Master Chief should have his own little “Firefight” in 343’s offices.

He did not just get serious, we outright see Ahzrak beating the Doom Slayer in strength multiple times during the QTEs and cutscenes before Ahzrak kills Serrat, who also is cracked as **** by the way. Also why in the actual **** would Doom Slayer hold back against the head honcho of Hell's forces at that point in time, especially if he was losing at first due to holding back? No, Doom Slayer literally just pulled a Dragon Ball Super Broly on his ass.

Doomslayer's power level basically looks like this.
DOOM the Dark Ages Slayer = Saitama during training (Not bald yet, but one-shotted a monster that made an automatic King and S Class Hero)
DOOM 2016 Slayer = Saitama as we know him throughout (Went Bald but is now the strongest)
DOOM Eternal Slayer = Saitama fighting Cosmic Garou in an alternate timeline (Where Garou grew and copied Saitama's strength only for Saitama's PL to sky rocket faster than Garou can copy it)

What an apt comparison honestly considering the extreme power growth he showcased against Ahzrak.

I dunno, why does Kratos hold back against Thor?

That is a completely separate character with completely separate motivations, personality and abilities. Doom Slayer is nothing like Kratos and he does not hold back while fighting demons or really anybody, the games make this very clear.
Pretty sure he holds back constantly since he doesn't blow demons apart with his melee attacks.
