Gyomei is massively superior in terms of fighting skill/experience, if they were equal in strength he'd crush Re-Destro with ease. Also since he uses bladed weapons he should be able to cut into Re-Destro, as the difference isn't massive enough for him to tank bladed attacks.

But Re-Destro is capable of causing severe damage like this, to someone who is 513 Tons of TNT, with an attack that didn't directly hit. Gyomei is around 100 Tons which is around 5X less durable than Shigaraki. Gyomei is a lot less durable than Shigaraki, and Re-Destro did that kind of damage with less than 80% of his stress.

Re-Destro can unleash massive AOE attacks that Gyomei can't dodge, as they cover hundreds of meters.

Basically this fight will last until Re-Destro realizes he can't hit Gyomei directly, and just use his Burden attacks.

Gyomei lacks any attacks that could finish Re-Destro off quickly.
