God of War vs Soul of Flames: Kratos vs Inferno

I mean

Kratos is a better character but uh

What keeps Kratos from just going insane when Type 4 Madness Manip kicks in

Coz he only seems to resist Type 3.

If you're willing to only count gameplay, then:

The Light of Dawn (which is a holy projectile that ignores the durability of demonic creatures)

Charon's Wrath (which consumes the target's lifeforce and can spread to anything that's close to them)

His usual, the Blades of Chaos, which steal lifeforce as well

And the Efreet, which is a demon, much like Inferno.

However, if you are going by the lore where Kratos is stated to deposit every gift he's ever had (that wasn't stolen later) in a storage space, he should have everything listed in his Ascension key here too

Also, bear in mind that this Kratos is only 7-A+ in AP via the Gauntlet of Zeus (which he fortunately is willing to use immediately in character and it's enormous, so should provide him with a good cover) and dura-wise via the Sun Shield, which is instant.

So this?

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Magic, Weapon Mastery, Time Manipulation and Age Manipulation with the Amulet of Uroborus (Can freeze time, as well as deage or age both enemies or objects considerably with it), Some form of Magic Dispelling, Electricity Manipulation, Can plant explosive coresinside foes, Soul Summoning, Fire Manipulation, Ice Manipulation, Can create a shadow clone of himself, Can drain the life force and magic energies of opponents on contact with them, Can channel his divine energy into other objects such as weapons to amplify their effectiveness, Rage Power (Capable of increasing his own strength with anger), Resistance to Time Stop (Overpowered the abilities of the Amulet of Uroborus in his fight against Castor & Pollux), Can hit souls, Limited Power Nullification (Can nullify illusions with the Eye of Truth), Limited Teleportation with the Oath Stone of Orkos (His clones are able to teleport to the enemy), Homing Attackwith the Soul of Hades (Which can vaporize enemies), Limited Healing with Orkos's Cloak | All previous powers, Fire Manipulation, Holy Light Projection with the Light of Dawn, which ignores the durability of demons or demonic creatures, Can breathe underwater, Resistance to Mind Manipulation (Resisted Persephone trying to persuade him into letting the gods die), Can hit Non-Corporeal beings (Killed the souls on Elysium)

tfw Kratos was legit in a Soul Calibur game....
I remember this.

So was Link I think.

Yes.

Kratos's hard hitting/most useful magic here will be the Light of Dawn, of course, given Inferno's status as a demon.

yeah but Kratos was also in All Stars

Plus, Inferno is weak to holy weapons. So that is something Inferno really doesn't want to be hit by too much.

The deal here is if Kratos can survive all of Inferno's abilities. Inferno loves Soul Stealing as that is his main goal, but his madness based powers are extremely good as well. We also have the fact that his energy can BFR people to Astral Chaos in which their bodies and minds are twisted by the entire realm (it corrupts souls as well). He can also copy the Kratos' Blades of Chaos (In a Soul Edge form. So it just have the physical properties, i.e blade and chain) as well. There is also the fact that Inferno loves to teleport. Inferno's power alone can turn Kratos into a Malfested (As shown with the Evil Seed) which gives Inferno control over him (he needs to do this as Kratos resists mindhax otherwise). There is also his possession.

Well, going by those with his power, he can steal souls gradually with his basic attacks. Or he can just flat out Soul Wave and rob Kratos's soul with a giant omnidirectional blast of energy. Remember Initial Zero from Deusmon? Like that. Except instead of destruction, it's absorption.

Omnidirectional blast of energy can be countered by the Sun Shield, since it scales to 600 megatons, unless said energy blast has shown the ability to bypass magical shields\forcefields.

Also, speed isn't equalized here. This version of Kratos scales to a double digit Mach feat while Inferno scales above a Mach 3 feat, so the Spartan has a pretty hefty speed avantage.

Btw (this is the best video I had for it currently) here is a much quicker and close range Soul Wave.

Siegfried Dark Legacy

I saw two of them - has Soul Wave shown feats of bypassing shields? Because otherwise I assume Kratos should be able to block it with the Sun Shield.

Also, the size difference between Kratos and him is kinda important here.

Not that I've seen. No once other than Taki even uses forcefields. Although, if it's not like an omnidirectional barrier, then Kratos is still in trouble as it still extends past its victims. And his Teleportation could help here.

Inferno is adult human sized.

It may extend past its victims, but the forcefield makes it so that an area about Kratos's size gets left off.

Also, let's remember Kratos has an ability that is literally the antithesis of Inferno here. I doubt Inferno will want to try and get that close to him (assuming he isn't careless and gets hit by one before knowing Kratos has that ability)

Even if he isn't, they are long ranged so if he still wants to get close after being hit by one that'd be a weakness.

What's his counter to getting set on a fire that will feast upon his life energy until he basically dies?

Likely using the souls stuck in Astral Chaos to replenish himself over and over until he runs out or dies to Kratos beforehand and resurrects in about a year, month, 13 years, etc.

What are Kratos' counter to Evil Seed Madness abilities, or a close range and immediate Soul Wave that I showed above (SCVl Inferno showed that he can even do so right after teleportation. While the SCVl Inferno really isn't different from regular Inferno, this may not be the best argument here), or possession, or being driven mad and having his body warped by Astral Chaos and/or just being left there? Basically being given the Necrid treatment.

Kratos is resistant to mindhax, so his madness hax isn't working unless it's Type 4 or his Possession is physical as opposed to mental.

Immediately close range also means he is within a field where he can be point-blank basted by the Light of Dawn's holy light, blasted away by energy orbs/forcefields of the Gauntlet of Zeus's superior AP, set on fire by Charon's Wrath's life absorbing flames, and if you want to get into Ascension, stopped in his tracks by timehax. It is a double soul-edged sword, as Kratos also has a lot of options to choose from.

Inferno's madness is type 4 (And yes, I literally just found out that there are types of Madness Manipulation so it's my fault that it isn't specified on the file). Like I said, simply coming into contact with his power can turn you mad. For Astral Chaos, that is the nature of the realm. I should mention that Inferno utilized Astral Chaos in character. Vs Kilik and Xianghua, he sent them to Astral Chaos. Xianghua has Soul Calibur and Kilik had his Dvapara-Yuga Mirrors. Two items specifically made to cancel out Soul Edge's evil powers.

Soul Calibur 2, the first thing he does is send you to Astral Chaos.

Same for Vl (Although that's another key)

Simply put, sending you to Astral Chaos is something in character for him to do.

Depends, do you consider being turned into Nightmare Physical, Mental or both?

Yes Kratos has a lot of options to choose from, but he only has one. Meaning in that scenario it's who does their move first, close range Soul Wave, or one of Kratos' weapons.

If he is weak to holy-powers, wouldn't such energy automatically mess with him and prevent him from using his powers as well?

Also, does seeing him mean you are instantly driven mad because you can't comprehend him, or does he need to use his powers manually to apply that effect?

Lastly, how does he send people to Astral Chaos?

@Dragon

The Light of Dawn is magic and not a weapon. That, and it is a manifestation of the Primordial Fire, the same fire that gives Helios the ability to easily banish an evil fog that had planetary AOE. So he needs better feats of holy corruption if you want to argue that.

Holy powers basically just deal more damage to him and such. As shown with Soul Calibur and the Dvapara Yuga and even the Kali-Yuga, He can still use his powers. It's just that those three specific weapons are basically engineered to counter him. But his powers are still very usable.

He doesn't manually do so, it's basically a side effect of being in contact with his powers. And in terms of Astral Chaos, it's the realm doing so.

In Necrid's case, he just ended up there. Like he left where Inferno was and then was suddenly in Astral Chaos.

Otherwise, it's a flash of light. (Also ignore the fact that Inferno sounds like Orochimaru)

Another flash of light.

Well that's Holy Magic, so yeah, not getting corrupted.

Just wanna ask, did you guys cover how Kratos can counter Type 3 Madness Manip?

Yeah, and BFR is pretty in character for him if not his first move or one of them.

Aside from Astral Chaos having no time or space, not at all. No one has ever had Time Stop until Zasalamel appeared....and that's only in the reboot.

Type 3 is literally just Mind Manip, but his Type 4 is kind of a big advantage for him, yes.

shit I got my madness types confused fml

So Type 4. Kratos has no counter? Because... that's a big deal.

For more things to actually prove Type 4. The Evil Seed was something that weakened Inferno unleashed after he took over Siegfried and became Nightmare. Due to this, many parts are the world became corrupted and dangerous to even walk in as if you did, you'd instantly go mad. The biggest evidence for this is every villain's main stronghold Orstreinsburg (I am not joking. After Soul Blade, everything happens there) where so much as even entering the city can turn you insane. So his power can even corrupt entire locations causing merely entering the place to be able to corrupt you and drive you mad.
