God of War: Ragnarok Discussion Thread

@Diamentus that’s honestly not even the worst downplay I’ve seen for Kratos. I remember seeing an AnimatonRewind episode on Kratos vs Saitama, as you’d expect he did the most bare bones of research for Kratos and only gave him like 3 weapons at best and had Kratos lose. He also reused Kratos against DBS Broly and of course made him lose and his whole argument was gameplay Kratos is weaker than lore Kratos.

For his evidence that gameplay Kratos and lore Kratos are canonically 2 separate beings he literally compared him to ******* Peter Griffin from Family Guy because there’s an episode that revealed Peter’s an actor playing a character this entire show. Absolutely 0 evidence exists for Kratos in gameplay and lore being canonically 2 separate entities but he kept saying that, plus he was also using lore feats like saying he kept up with Balder who’s the god of light, making him light speed which is not how scaling works.

That's one of the goofiest things I've ever heard about GOW scaling, I love that he thought gameplay and lore Kratos were somehow 2 entirely different people that apparently coexist. Reminds of me the bigger Luke thing from Star Wars.

Matt made some pretty homophobic and transphobic comments and then used the "I'm bisexual so I can use these jokes" card.
What's funny about him saying he can make those jokes because he's bi is that even if even if the homophobic joke was ignored on the basis of "well he also likes men so he can say that", there's no way being bi would also somehow make people turn a blind eye to the transphobic joke since, y'know, being bi ain't even remotely close to being trans. No idea what that man was thinking lmao.

@Dust_Collector yeah, it’s just AnimationRewind not understanding how continuity exists for video game franchises, either that or he just really hates Kratos and likes to spite him.

Matt’s not that bright, plain and simple, plus he barely does much beyond throw shade like when he tried to throw shade at Castlevania being 2-C but won’t have the guts to actually follow through with a downgrade since it won’t end well for him.

@Andika_CL_atmadja you should’ve seen my first Castlevania CRT, matt closed it because “game mechanics” when I was giving Alucard abilities based on the weapons he got.🗿

I just like how much of a contrast he has compared to Zeus, if he had the same type of demeanor and physique as Zeus it would feel a little redundant, but I’m happy they went with a new approach for Odin since it lets him stand out much more.

Honestly, it fits in my opinion. He's not some domineering, all powerful skyfather like Zeus. He's scheming and conniving, with a tendency to make others lower their guard.

I really liked Odins design. Helps contrast him with other gods like Thor since he's not focused on physical strength and helps sell his manipulative nature, the fact that he looks more like a normal old man as opposed to some giant imposing entity pairs perfectly with how he acts.

I agree that Odin shouldn't be all high and mighty in appearance like Zeus. I still think that his design could have been way better and a lot more interesting. As it is he just looks really mediocre to me. Pretty dissappointing.

I read though this shouldn’t be taken as general.

that apparently people think the final boss fight is not as good as the others
Personally I think they should've made the AI better for a 3v1 (course if possible I'd have done without a 3v1 at all). And of course, more spectacle would've been nice but honestly this last part I don't mind that much. It's not as though you didn't fight Zeus in a small room anyway so people who get too hung up on this don't make sense to me.

Honestly, I'm more glad they didn't try to make him look older. If they did he'd look a lot more frail and not as intimidating.
i can see why, i guess i am just not used to seeing a bald odin, and with a smaller beard curse you marvel comics

I like Odin's design. It felt a bit weird at first, but as the game progressed, it seemed more and more fitting to me

I like Odin’s design. At first I thought it was lame but it kinda grew on me. And it’s certainly unique as well. Just wish he didn’t have that old grandpa scream during the cutscene and instead an actually impactful battle cry.
