This is long so strap in. Lots of science ahead.
This took me many hors to research, calculate, and type so please consider the following article I wrote.
As a genji main i feel that he sometimes goes unapreciated. People inherently don't like him because he is hard to play and doesn't do as much damage as the other offence heroes do.
When I read the vs wiki page on genji it didn't have much out of the ordinary when it comes to ninjas. But i knew something was wrong. I knew that genji had to be faster stronger and more durable than the vs wiki page said he was. He is made significantly less powerful in the game in order to keep him from being OP but after doing the math I realized that I was right, and that he was way more powerful than the game leads you to believe.
This article i wrote focuses mainly on the speed aspect of this because I think that the speed statistic in the vs wiki page is the least accurate of the 3 stats that i mentioned. There is only a little bit about strength and durability but I have much more to say about those if this gets enough attention. Without further distractions here is my theory about why genji is more powerful than the vs wiki says.
Genji is much much faster than the vs wiki page says he is. He can reflect symmetra's light balls which belive it or not are acually not as sci-fi as you may think. They are hard light constructs (which are real btw) that are made up of photons condensed into a small area forming a crystal like structure made completely of light particles aka photons. These hard light constructs are very fragile and will break apart upon collision with almost any other objects. Genji however can reflect these easily. The only concivable way to do that would be to swing his wakizashi (his shorter sword) at the ball with the exact same amout of force the ball can provide. This would then stop both the ball and genji's sword but since the ball is fragile it would break apart and turn into a bunch of photons. In order for him to send it back he would then have to move the photons with his sword so fast that they collide and form a hard light construct again. Genji would have to move many times the speed of light and process information/react even faster in order to accomplish this.
Also when reflecting you can see green outlines of his arms almost like afterimages of him moving so fast. But the difference here is that they are clear and you can only see the green outline of his arms but not the actual arms themselves. This means that he is moving so fast that the photons (light particles) are not hitting his arm and bouncing bact to create the image of his arms . The only thing you see is the light from his arm light thingies (i know, arm light thingies sooo scientific right ). But it doesnt even stop there, you can see up to 6 green arm things at once depending on how many projectiles he is deflecting. This means that he must be moving more than 6 times the speed of light (thats minimum 4.02 billion mph), and must be processing, comprehending, and then reacting many times faster than that. But Genji can't just deflect 1 ball of light, he can deflect up to 10 at once (if both teams are 5 symmetra and a genji). Meaning that he must be able move at mininmum 40.02 billion mph.
But that is only his arms. humans legs move much faster than their arms do so if his arms can move that fast it stands to reason that his legs can move even faster.
Thats just the tip of the iceberg, if you factor in g-forces from moving at speeds like those, Genji's 1 pound wakizashi(shorter sword) would require just as much force to move as it would to move if it weighed many million pounds. Not to mention that his body would feel as if it weighed hundreds of millions of pounds while performing feats like those mentioned above. (and he still can move at many times the speed of light!!!) The stress on his body while doing this would be insane!!! In order to survive this he would have to be insanely durable. But Genji doesn't even break a sweat while doing this. His stamina is theoretically infinite since he is a cyborg and Overwatch takes place in the future meaning that the thing powering him could last long enough to outlive him (This is a future where a gorrilla made a time machine and a russian weapons company somehow can contain and control the size and power of a black hole as seen zaria's ultimate so is a really powerful, long lasting, and light power source that unrealistic?).
There is some other evidance proving my theory regarding rienhardt's flamestrike and other heroes abilities but it is way to much effort or me to explain until I see that people read this post.
Feel free to reply if I missed anything or if there are any big flaws in this that I am not seeing.
I really hope that a moderator or an admin sees this and does something about it and I hope you enjoyed reading my theory.
