Exar Kun upgrade.

Also, the creator of the Dark Empire series says this

I don't think Kun > Sidious in any way, shape or form, but the idea of him being comparable sounds ok.

He absolutely destroys Luke in the fight, as a spirit, he ripped his Lightsabre from Luke's hand and tore his soul from his body - although Luke's lightside attunement allowed him to recover from it.

Honestly, the only sith lord potentially stronger than Sidious is Caedus, who faced a bloodlusted Luke in his prime (who would destroy Kun and Sidious with low-mid difficulty to be sure) and held his own reasonably well.

But yeah, that tier for Kun you suggested sounds about right.

Caedus destroyed everyone he came across except Kyle Katarn (A being slightly weaker than Darth Vader via power scaling who he bit with mid-low diff), Jaina Solo (the real PIS moment for Caedus as he logically should have destroyed Jaina), and Luke Skywalker (the only person who was capable of beating him.

The fight between Caedus and Luke was interrupted by Ben, so we can't say on what the outcome could've been. The only one he really fought bloodlusted against, as far as I can recall, was Lumiya. Who she scales after, I don't know.

Also, he nearly lost to Mara Jade and had the resort to a very underhanded move to beat her.

Not generally, only with a few people.

Any rating for the character should be "Likely", since "greatest darkness" in no form translates to highest AP. It could also mean Exar being the most evil person Luke encountered since Sidious. Also, the statement is likely a narrative technique to bolster reader tension, so it's not incontrovertible, until further feats/statements appear.

Same said author who created Dark Empire where Sidious does all the Wormhole feats. However, i personally doubt Exar is Sidious' superior, we need to remember that Lucas had stated that Sidious was the strongest Sith Lord of all time.

However, how would this scale to others who fought Exar?

TBH, I've seen proof of why that statement is not only wrong, but how evidence points to the contrary, but meh.

I can agree to Likely Moon Level. Here's the supporting facts.

Exar Kun was called the "True Heir of the Sith" by Marka Ragnos - the arguable first Sith Lord, the one who crowns all the Sith Lords pre-Bane line. Marka, the same guy who laughed at Vitate when he attempted to be crowned Dark Lord.

Exar Kun fought Luke as a Spirit and managed the following:

1: Ripped his Lightsaber from his hand via the Force - a feat that not even Sidious or Abeloth could do iirc,

2: Forced Luke's spirit from his body so his body could be used to house Exar's soul, although Luke was able to force himself back into the body.

3: Called Luke's skills with a lightsaber, "Quaint", (attractively unusual or old-fashioned.), despite Luke fighting and holding off Sidious, who was a master of every form of lightsaber combat.

Exar Kun managed to survive the Wall of Light, which was created by the *entire* Jedi Order as a blanket of Light Side energy that literally destroyed the souls of his Dark Side adepts around him, it left Kun weakened.

Kun has been cited as (in story and out of story) as one of the most powerful Sith Lords ever, and certainly one of the best duelests.
