Hello!

So, for the past 1-2 months or so, I've been reading a novel called Extra's Death, and this thread is meant to establish the abilities that Elements give (Universal Laws), as well as Layers in the verse (gets kinda nutty).

Extra's Death is a Webnovel made by FailedWriter101, 660 chapters and on-going, and it currently has;

As such, I believe it should fit the notability criteria pretty comfortably, especially considering the 41k collections the story has, which is, well, quite a lot.

Here is the blog for Elements.

Here is the blog for layers.

Tl;dr
  • All beings inherently have resistance to all Elements (abilities) in the verse, and that resistance increases with age and leveling up.
  • Higher ranked characters have consistently shown bypassing resistances of lower ones, and there were multiple statement where it was stated that even if one can resist another element, that is not important if the opponent is higher leveled and can still affect them. The difference in ranking up is also consistently stated, particularly in Paragon/Exalted rank, and especially in Stage-3/4. Leveling up also starts being a leveling up of "Existence", rather than just stats, as leveling up stats is considered a by-product, and mainly Divine Energy and Existence level is what matters.
  • Neo, having lived for an infinite amount of time mentally, gains insane resistances to Mental shenanigans, however, starting around Stage-3 where the gap becomes smth else, characters are able to affect him mentally, making it so that Stage-3 and upwards, the potency becomes infinite.
  • Almost all the abilities listed in Elements blog is for Apprentice to Adept Rank, ie not including Expert stage and like, the 7 other stages above it, mostly because I didn't know which level I should index the abilities and its resistances, and because Expert stage is when someone starts putting their own personal spin/conceptualizes their element. Albeit there really is no reason to assume it doesn't apply to those as well, but I'd appreciate more advice on it.

seems fine from a glance and why do novels with 100+ layers always catch your eyes 🤔
The heavens point me towards those novels so I can index them

I mean, layers or not, this verse is nuts from the start. I'm pretty it'll also have the fastest MFTL+ character on the wiki solely due to the multiplier shit

Interesting, can't wait but i am so use to see immeasurable speed and omnipresence because of cultivation novels all the other speed feels so slow tbh.

Honestly there's a genuine argument for that but it just seems like an outlier or author just throwing out random shit. You can see here lol.

Also if you check on the webnovel app you can see that is has been a top 10 webnovel for a good bit so that also seems good enough. (also note that collections require a good bit more engagement than just viewing a chapter so there's likely to be well over 100k unique visits/views on official site)

When I saw Extra's death in the list of CRTs, I was wondering which one of you or MGQ it was gonna be lol
Anyways, most of this looks fine, the layers page is alright
But when it comes to the element pages
Non-Physical Interaction (Could directly destroy darkness that devours everything[8]), IntangibilityIntangibility (Elemental; Can be turned into lightning[9])
No, that's not really something you can resist and you would need explicit feats of such to try and get it
DanmakuDanmaku (Could unleash a huge amount of lightning that is able to destroy multiple domes[8])
You quite literally cannot resist danmaku
Intangibility (Elemental; Can be used to turn into a cluster of light and move away[13]), Danmaku (Can be used to rain spears of light from the sky that each explode[13])
See the above
Regeneration and Healing (Life Element allows beings to regenerate lost limbs and destroyed body parts [15] and can be used to heal others[16])
See the above
and was shown that Neo
This just stops here, and I'm guessing it was either part of an old justification, or something you cut off

bar that im basically fine with everything else

He did a bit of a weird thing where he's also listing the elements and their applications at same time so not purely for resistance but yea it's pretty weird to say some of these can be resisted.

Yeah, like MGQ said, I also put their applications at the same time, since I originally wanted this to also cover for Neo's page, where he later on gets billion abilities and divinities and whatnot, but listing it as resistance is wrong, ye. Though I kept Healing for Life Manipulation and others, as, iirc, Healing in-verse does actually screw over those with certain affinities. Altho I'm not sure if that's enough to list it as a resistance or just mention it somewhere on profile pages.

Additionally, I added Causality and Probability manipulation for the fate element, mostly due to a direct statement of Fate commanding Cause and Effect, and Luck, which allows them to control "coincidences", such as winning the lottery a 100 billion times in a row. Tho the latter is a bit more iffy, since it was talking about Fate Gods (Ie higher stages) rather than normal fate dudes, but we kinda have basically no showcase of characters with fate affinity besides like one, hence the "likely".

I essentially agree with Deonment here.

Also, I think it would be visibly easier on the eyes if the sub-abilities of certain elements used an indented bullet point instead of being baked into the same paragraph.
As in, smth like;

Lightning Element:
  • Lightning Manipulation (insert justification)
  • Paralysis Inducement (insert justification)
  • Etc...

Smth like the above? Also thanks for the input!

Controversial stuffs like CM1 and Law is fine, but it is recommend to actually provide scans for the independency arguments.

Yeah, agree with this

I will comment on Layers stuffs when i have time

I don't understand what do you guys mean Infinite Potency between rank? What did it do?
Resistances to Elements and Mind stuff increase with age. Ie a person who is a century old has more resistance/potency compared to a person who is a decade old.

Neo, the MC, has experienced an infinite/Eternity amount of time, ie his Mind is infinite in age. This isn't just a hypothesis or whatever btw, the story directly talks about his Mind experiencing eternity, making his resistances to mental stuff pretty much impenetrable (well, before Stage 4 dudes just bypass it). Kinda makes sense considering that higher stages literally evolves ones existence. The MC was stage 4 at the peak, and did an amp that amplified his speed by God damn 20^2000 or smth, and still got bodied effortlessly by a stage 5.

To be clear, the difference becomes infinite from Stage 3/4 and onward, everything else below is not infinite in potency.

It's not even like eternity as in a very long time either. It's explicitly clear it was even an unending eternity that passed after listing a bunch of long scale time periods.

So, it is infinite layers but also not infinite layers?, infinite layers in disguise or something?

Eh, not really, no. Layers happen when a character bypasses a resistance, but potency is smth else, the strength of the hax. We once had scaled potency of stuff (such as how many people some could mind control), and although the standards are a bit more iffy, potency still exists. The resistance increases in potency with each passing moment, which will make it infinite potency.

What that will mean is that in order to affect them, you need to have feats of bypassing a resistance that is infinite in potency. If one does not have it, then layers doesn't really matter (Except for inf layers, I think)

Bump... We only need 1 more staff vote (eh not even that, just for layers since element page is technically accepted now).

I need help, wth is this?, lol
I gotchu
Not sure where Ice Manipulation is coming from.
Not sure where Power Null is coming from.
Not acceptable.
Not seeing the soul mentioned here.

No reasoning for Mandess or Memory.

Surprisingly, the layers all make sense, at least to me. I see what you mean by infinite potency instead of layers, so I guess that's fine as well.

More context needed.
"So your Time manifestation's strength depends on the energy you use. Now, how much energy do you think is used to go back in time by using River of Time?"

"A lot?"

"And what's the area of effect of a regression done by River of Time."

"The entire universe, I think," Neo said.

"You are correct. Now, Neo Hargraves, tell me, do you really think an Awakened Demigod, or Mythic Demigod, would have 'energy' to turn back time of the entire universe?"

"That…"

Neo couldn't answer.

River of Time's unique nature allowed one to go back in time, but it should still consume an unfathomable amount of energy.

After all, the stronger a technique, the more energy it consumed.

Until now, he never thought where the energy used to turn back time using River Of Time came through.

The demigods used their energy, true. But it was far from enough to affect the entire universe no matter how you see it.

"The answer is Supreme of Time. He is one of the benevolent Supremes.

"And the reason inhabitants of Stage 3 or weaker planets, can turn back time of the entire universe is because Supreme of Time helps them to do that.

"However, when those people go beyond the strength of Stage 3 or if their planet does that, then Supreme of Time will no longer help them," Yaleth explained. - Ch 553

Not sure where Ice Manipulation is coming from.
Ice stuff is part of the Water element iirc, and here is one of the feats where a Water Element produced Ice (and also another feat where they froze opponent but I can't find it for the life of me)
Not sure where Power Null is coming from.
Mostly because it is the 2nd strongest element in combat, since it can enter Elemental Clash with majority of elements. Here is what Elemental Clash is. Granted I can't find the scan of it being the 2nd strongest, but I can remove it if that's needed. Though we do have showcase of the Fire element later on (albeit higher ranked) being able to burn attacks and stuff.
Not acceptable.
We haven't been shown much about the wind Element, but here is one of the feats (casual one not meant for attack, iirc).
As for Metal Element, here is one of the feats where they can conjure liquid metal and turn it into weapons, among other things.
Not seeing the soul mentioned here.
Will remove it.
Not acceptable.
Life Manip page states that one of the uses of it is healing and other stuff, which the Life Element is mostly used for at the beginning. I believe it still qualifies since it is using the Life Element (Concept of Life) to do these shenanigans, ie increase the Life Elementals and stuff.
No reasoning for Mandess or Memory.
The Madness one was supposed to be for Darkness, my bad. As for memory, there are a few, such as this, and this. There are more but they are mostly about seeing memories, digesting/devouring them, etc...
More context needed.
MGQ already provided one of the scans above.
Not acceptable.
There are quite a bit, such as using the Space Elementals to open up portals in space, and a direct statement of being able to manipulate space (and other characters could "kill"/destroy space, albeit they used different elements)
Not acceptable.
There is this one about fateweavers with direct statement of being able to manipulate fate to some extent. Those with fate affinity can affect the threads of fate (be it fortune, death. life, space, etc...), and it's a bit weird, but here are three scans showing one of the cases: This, this, and this.

I think infinite potency is better than layers...

Layers are qualitatively superior to anything lower than them
