Dragon Ball speed upgrade.

Alright, so this is my first thread here, and after doing quite a lot of math, I'm ready to present.

First off, according to this Wiki, Piccolo's Makankosappo travelled at 7% of the speed of light.

Raditz with a power level of 1,200 dodged this.

Vegeta (Saiyan Saga) had a power level of 18,000

18,000 / 1,200 = 15

7 * 15 equals 105.

This makes Saiyan Saga Vegeta 105% SoL.

Going back to Raditz for a moment..

Raditz, with a power level of 1,200 dodged an attack (Makankosappo) that was 7% of the speed of light.

Multiply that by 10 to get 70% and then divide by seven to get 10%, multiply by 10 to get 100% of the SoL at a power level of:

17,143 (Rounded to nearest whole number.)

So, for every 17,143 power level, a character reaches another multiple of the SoL.


Jeice, Recoome, and Burter all had power levels of AROUND 60,000

60,000 / 17,143 = 3.5 times the speed of light. Yes, Jeice and Recoome were a bit lower, probably closer to 50,000.


Captain Ginyu had a power level of 120,000.

120,000 / 17,143 = 7 times the SoL.


Goku fighting Frieza had a power level of 3,000,000 in base, and 150,000,000 in Super Saiyan.

3,000,000 / 17,143 = 175 times the SoL.

150,000,000 / 17,143 = 8,750 times the SoL.


Piccolo vs Frieza... Piccolo handled Second Form Frieza rather well, but was dominated by his third form.

This means Piccolo was at least 1,000,000.

1,000,000 / 17,143 = 58.3

Making Namek Saga Piccolo (Post Sync with Nail) is AT LEAST 58.3 times the speed of light.

Jumping ahead a bit. Going by scaled power levels now.

Imperfect Cell, who was roughly equal to #16, had a power level superior to #17 & #18, who were superior to Super Saiyan Vegeta.

Super Saiyan Vegeta had a power level of around 220 Million at the time Imperfect Cell showed up.

220,000,000 / 17,143 = 12,833 times the SoL

1. 17 and #18 was around 250 Million

250,000,000 / 17,143 = 14,583 times the speed of light

Piccolo after fusing with Kami was equal to #17, meaning he also has a speed of around 14,583 times the SoL.


Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Krillin all had power levels ranging from 900,000 to 1,200,000 in the Cell Saga.

900,000 / 17,143 = 52.5 times the SoL

1,200,000 / 17,143 = 70 times the SoL

So, the low end for Cell Saga Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Krillin is 52.5 times the speed of light, and the high end is 70 times.

Super Perfect Cell had a power level of 1.3 Billion.

1,300,000,000 / 17,143 = 75,832.7 times the SoL

We don't use power levels.

Power levels are meaningless and don't affect anything after the Frieza Saga. They are also non-linear and don't affect speed like that.

It would also not make any sense if Final Form Frieza used an attack described at multiple points in databooks as light (which nobody could properly react to but base Goku), to surprise a bunch of FTL+ characters.

PL are not linear,they are likely much faster
