DOOM Discussion Thread

Because the Cosmic realm is superior to the multiverse which is 5-D?
It's a realm comparable to Hell itself, perhaps even implied to be beyond Hell.

And seemingly as it's the god of the realm, a deduction you can make is that The Old One dreamt it considering the obvious Lovecraftian dream inspiration.
His dreams keep the realm in existence, him dying = cosmic realm ceases to exist hence the scaling.
"Beyond Hell"

Proceeds to have its deities mogged by random thugs/butlers who were empowered

Yes, Xal'Goroth should scale to 1-C Old One scales to Low 1-C as of now
My two cents: This wasn't a "free" or "fully awakened" version of Xal'Gororth. This was a heavily weakened version because of his entrapment "within the depths of void" at the hands of the ancient wraiths through their deception. That's why he was considered "lost to ancient memory" and "forever lingering beneath the realms of existence" in-lore.

Still very impressive for the DOOM Slayer.

I noticed this for a long while, but it's most uncanny how much in common Doomslayer has to Tadano Hitonari. And most recent stuff keeps making it even more apparent.

Nothing really supports that the Xal Goroth that slayer fights is weakened

My interpretation is based on the fact that Xal'Goroth had been entrapped "within the depths of the void", was "lost to ancient memory", and is described as becoming catastrophic if ever fully awakened. To me, that implies the version encountered wasn't in its ideal or fully realised state.

He's bleeding at the spot where Ahzrak stabbed him in DOOM TDA, meaning it most likely happened shortly after those events.
It's explained that it wasn't just a normal spear, but one forged from the dark realm, that revealed something deep inside of him, a weakness from his past that made him vulnerable.

You should read the codexes of why he was even defeated.

Either way, no ratings will need to be adjusted as we have explanations.
Not that short. Years might not have passed between the DLC and base game, but still time has passed, and we know that because everyone is somewhere else compared to where they were at the end of the base game.

Yes, I read the codex, it is besides the point though. The part exploited is the whole thing with his soul, but it doesn't change the fact that the henchman slams and stomps him and KO's him, destroys his armor, and shield. Then the story doubles down on this by having him get the architect to create a new armor/fix the shield to be even stronger.
