Well, they both have the same AP as they scale from surface wiping feats.

I'm going to say Sonic because he has way more versatility with the wisps (Violet Void, Indigo Asteroid, etc.) plus can also beat up Diablo by ramming him in the head with his spin dash.

Sonic can also use his time manipulation powers if Diablo is trying to put his hands on him (He did so with the Ifrit and Erazor Djinn so it's in-character in that scenario). Not to mention his quills can sense incoming danger or attacks if that helps. Diablo is seen more of an experience H2H combatant (He's literally from a fighting game and has millions of years on his belt lol), but I still think Sonic can hold his own via his mobility and unique fighting style.

Plus, given the opponent he's fighting, this is nothing towards Sonic. Given his experience over fighting demonic entities that are capable of doing feats Diablo has done, plus more. So this fight is basically another adventure Sonic has to go on. Making the fight even more to his favor.
