Can wee all agree Batman is no longer a continous story but a damn sitcom?
Joker kills hundreds, he gets put in arkham before breaking out again, the law is utterly corrupt and stupid, Jim is a massive hypocrite, Bruce is also massive hypocrite and pretty much a narcissistic bufoon that claaims to be just while letting Jason have a landmile of leeway, getting kids into crime fighting and having a very obvious martyr complex?
I know its a comic book, but even implying this is supossed to be serious drama (main continuity) instead of a literal sitcom, its just...yeah, idiotic. To the point the only way it makes sense its the fact its ficitonal.
I mean, yeah, it isn't a continuing story at all, but IMO it's similiar to complaining Looney Tunes isn't a continuing story.
The characters of Batman and Joker are around 80 years, so of course the writers aren't going to consider every written piece of information put out there while writing, just like no one actually reads every single King Arthur book before writing a Camelot story, so it's better to look at them without considering their prior histories and stuff like that.
Being a sitcom isn't bad when your character can definitively not be written the same across 100s of writers.
Though I will agree, the bizarre insistence of the writers not even trying to use other members of the best Rogues gallery across fiction into their stories is infuriating, and I ditched DC Comics basically for that reason only, as it resulted in the main characters looking stupid, and the side characters being sidelined even further. Joker in my opinion has the dullest and most weakly defined gimmick out of all the other rogues gallery member, and while he has an interesting mechanic with Batman, other charactershave farmoreinterestingdynamicsandbackstories that never get used, at least not in ways that actually matter
